This book is very good at what it aims to do. This book is a great first read about the stock market. This really is a great book for anyone trying to get into trading. I find myself going back to it often for easy to understand explanations about stock terms. I think I would even enjoy it even if I wasn't investing in the stock market.

I was very surprised at the simplicity of the writing and keeping the reader engaged in a very (normally) dry subject matter. Most books of these sorts are too busy trying to sell you on their specific system and have very little substance beyond that. The author gives you all the buzzword terms, but actually explains what the acronyms are and what they mean to the novice investor. I really do like the notes that are sprinkled throughout the book. They give nice tips and such that otherwise might be lost in the flood of information this book packs in. I actually learned a fair amount I didn’t know about T-Bills and US Treasury securities. I would heartily recommend this book to anyone with a 401k retirement account. There are so many strategies available to those who understand how to break out of the molds that normal investment will get you.

When I was about 20, I picked up a book called "The Only Investment Guide You'll Ever Need" by Andrew Tobias. That book opened a whole new world for me, and led to a lifelong (profitable) fascination with investing and trading. Unfortunately, I eventually lost (or tossed) that book, and have wished I could find it again, even though it is definitely outdated.

Warren Robbins, Tony Day Buffett 's book is the same kind of book, only, perhaps, better. He summarizes many different approaches to investing and trading, and provides solid tips and resources to get started, including some of his own books (fair enough). Whether you want to start with the blue chip world of buy-and-hold dividend collection, or try the more active world of options trading--or something in between--there is something here for you. Looking back over my highlights, I find advice as diverse as the simple "Only losers average losers" to more advanced concepts such using a stock's float to make trading decisions.

I have three boys who are entering the workforce and ready to start investing. I think I know what I'll give them for stocking stuffers this Christmas.

This book is well written with great examples to follow, If you do use the Course along with the book, be prepared to sign up to an investing house, "Robinhood" as recommended by the publishers. But that is a little thing.

The book is written for beginners or those wanting to refresh their knowledge, it is not aimed at long-term investors who have a good knowledge of the subject.

I would recommend anybody to seek knowledge before embarking on investing and this quick start guide and course will help you learn quickly and painlessly.

This book is a great beginning toward learning how

This book is a great beginning toward learning how to invest. Simply put. The author chooses simple examples and walks the reader through the history (briefly) of the stock market along with providing the necessary tools to start to participate in investing. As a chemist what I found most interesting was a simple concept - money is a tool - to help an investor. Changing the mindset of a person looking to 'hold onto' money (i.e. savings account) may seem elementary but needed for any simple teaching guide. Navigating through the trove of investing language can be cumbersome to say the least. Although, with a well-written, simple, concise book such as this which Ted Snow has released to the world, a beginner like myself is inspired to educate myself further on financial investments and building wealth. Thank you Ted for the wonderful book.

Considering that I am new to investing, especially trading on the market, this book was extremely helpful to providing me with the building blocks necessary to understanding the market and building the confidence needed to start investing. It did this through plain language explanations of jargon and seemingly complex concepts. After giving me the tools to understand the basics of the market it then started to walk me through my options, helping me to understand the different levels of risk between short and long-term type investments and helping me figure out what is right for me. This is helpful for me because I'm pretty risk adverse, so while I might not personally partake in the short sells, its good to know the ins and outs of them. I think overall, knowledge is most of the battle, and this book really helped me shore up my knowledge around investing.

the author plugs his own business several times throughout the book. This wasn't to the point where I felt personally "invaded" or that the credibility of the book itself was compromised though. Because this is a beginner's guide and a detailed overview of so many topics it didn't feel like he was trying to sell his service to me.

Overall I'm glad to have listened to the book and I will likely give it another listen in order to better retain some of the material. There may be better overview's available but I thought this did a fair job. I would try out other ClydeBank Media titles based on my experience with this one.

Stock Market Investing Guide by Warren Robbins,

Stock Market Investing Guide by Warren Robbins,is an excellent introduction into investing. I have not yet started to invest in anything as of yet. Part of the reason is the amount of income I do have and receive and the other being the bills I have to pay. I wished I had taken classes that taught me more on how to invest like some high schools have started doing. However, I do not have to real or practiced experience in this field. Therefore, I cannot debate on anything this author says, without doing some extensive research. But I have found a lot of his information to be accurate. Just not fully in-depth. It is a beginner guide into the basics and does mention some non-basic knowledge that had me confused at times. Simply because I wasn't sure what he was talking about nor what it all entails. All in all, this gave me a great gateway into what investing is. I can recommend this book to others, who like me, don't know anything but investing. If you need more, I recommend looking into more advanced books on the subject.

This Investing Quick Start Guide is a good entry

This Investing Quick Start Guide is a good entry level introduction to the basics of investing. It would also serve as a good refresher for the normal investor who wants to branch out into other types of securities.

I found the book a little too basic for me. There are a lot of books aimed at this market. I would use this book in conjunction with other books to get different opinions on the various investing topics to get a well rounded perspective of the different types of securities.

I reviewed the e-book version. The ability to view some of the tables was a little convoluted. Removing the big number alongside the tables and figures would have made some of the readable without opening or scrolling the table/figure.

I ordered Stock Market Investing for Beginners

I ordered Stock Market Investing for Beginners The Simplified Beginners Guide in e-book format to review. As a newbie to investing, I was eager to read and learn from the author's years of experience. For the most part, the book is very plainly written and didn’t make me feel like I needed a PhD to get through it. The author did a good job of explaining the basics of investing during the first few chapters and the visuals (charts, examples) throughout the book and the glossary were most helpful.

The book also did a good job outlining risks and encouraging staying power over the long term. However, I think it’s written more for the beginner that plans to and has time to actively monitor and analyze investment performance options. I am not this person. I would like to have learned some tips on investing for myself long-term with periodic monitoring, and without being nickeled and dimed to death by brokerage and financial advisor fees. Speaking of fees, even though one whole chapter was what I consider a dedicated push to hire a financial advisor, there was not enough information in the book about the fee structures and how they can impact (divest) your investments in the future.

Overall, the guide is a pretty decent read and has some very helpful information in it, so I’d say it’s still worth reading. Just don’t expect it to be the holy grail of investment books for beginners.

Investing is usually thought of as a complex and d

Investing is usually thought of as a complex and difficult thing that many people tend to avoid. They avoid it due to the fear of loss and because they think it is too complex and hard to understand. Here comes the requirement for a proper education and by education, I do not mean the traditional school thing but to read and read to learn. This book is very well written. The chapters are neatly structured and each topic is clearly explained with multiple examples and tips. Even though this is a beginner's guide for investments and stock markets, I feel even those who have some expertise or are professional can benefit from it. There are some very useful tidbits and reminders we tend to forget as we become more aware of investing. So this has been very helpful to me personally even though I am not a beginner.
