Publisher's Summary

The dead rose. We fell.

But not everyone thinks the war for survival is over. Heroes rise in times of crisis, and Still of Night tells their stories....

Dahlia- A bullied high school girl with a love for edged weapons goes from victim to powerful leader as the zombie apocalypse sweeps through her world.

Rachael Elle continues her journey from comic-con cosplayer to actual hero as she encounter a community with a dark and terrible secret.

Captain Joe Ledger and his best shooters, Top and Bunny, head to an overrun San Diego to try and save a possible cure for the virus that is bringing the dead back to unnatural life.

And in the wilderness, Joe, Dahlia, and Rachael Elle will come face-to-face with savage gangs, an army of the living dead, and the mysterious and deadly Old Man Church.

The final battle unfolds in a little town called Happy Valley, where the residents have found their own unique and terrible way to survive the end of the world. But a war is coming, and no one will escape the last great war between the living and the dead.

Still of Night is the fourth book in NY Times best seller Jonathan Maberry’s best-selling Dead of Night series. George A. Romero called Dead of Night and its sequel, Fall of Night, “The official prequel to NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD as far as I’m concerned.”

So excited!

I adore the Joe Ledger series, and his Night series is the only zombie book series to terrifying me so totally it’s hard to re-listen to them (and that’s a compliment). So when he announced a cross over, and it was read by the legendary voice of Joe himself? Excuse me as I scream in total joy.

Ledger and Zombies

Joe meets the Walking Dead and mayhem and gore ensue. This is a great continuation of the series and has some surprises and twists. I especially enjoy Mr. Church making an appearance.
If you like Joe Ledger and or zombies, you'll love this book!
Oh and of course Ray Porter delivers. He is the voice of Joe Ledger, there can be none other!

Mixed Blessing

Be aware, the cast of characters are an infantile SJW wet dream. If you can get beyond that, the writing is good and Ray Porter maintains his position as my number one, favorite narrator.

JM is obviously trying to woo Hollywood with his stories these days, but hasn’t seemed to notice Hollywood is progressively alienating its customer base.

Chock full of Ledger-ly goodness!

I unknowingly did myself the favor of not looking into what and more importantly who I might encounter when I picked up "Still of Night". I'm generally pretty picky with my audio book choices but with Jonathan Maberry I seldom give it a second thought. With Still of Night if I was expecting anything it would have been expecting some history behind the " Benny Imura" series and that would have been fine. I could not have been more pleased about being wrong! I'm not going to risk any spoilage beyond this... If you are anything like the Ledger fan(atic) I am when you hear the words "You can listen, you can run away or you can die" you will immediately remember how Mr. Maberry got you as addicted to the adventures of "ECHO TEAM" as you've become!

Legitimate Author turns into cringey hard left SJW

I used to be a huge fan of Jon Maberry, and I acknowledge that he has always written left of center (which doesn't bother me). What does bother me is the fact he took a good sci-fi book and transformed it into a diatribe embracing corporate backed trending # social justice movements.

I read or listen to these books to escape the constant brow beating everybody right of center now receives from all media. If I wanted to hear about masculine women, feminine men, evil white people, toxic masculinity, or economic disparity... I could visit any "progressive" upper class neighborhood just outside any major city, or even easier, turn on MSNBC or any main stream news media channel.

Like it or not, Maberry fans span the political spectrum from left to right. If Jon continues using hollowed out and completely contrived corporate backed social justice themes, he will lose a large portion of his fan base.

The Still of the Night could have been an entertaining book, but I had to walk away from it. There is a good chance I am done with Mr Maberrys' books altogether. I dislike his supersillious social commentary and the not so hidden ..... hidden agendas.

This is the story most Joe Ledger fans have been dying to hear!!!

As a fan of the Joe Ledger series, you always wondered what would happen if Joe or Mr. Church ended up in a SHTF scenario. Well this is it. Definitely a great story and I love the cameos of old Joe Ledger series characters. PLEASE continue this story line ASAP. It is what all the fans have wanted.

Couldn't ask for more.

Another masterpiece in Jonathan's version and ongoing tale of how the dead rose. Three short stories that fill in some important gaps and a nail biting novella that leaves us begging for more and gives us back another favorite character from the Ledger world. Please keep them coming sir, we appreciate every word you write.

Extremely disappointing for a good writer.

I can’t believe you would allow your name to be connected to a book of this quality. Is your head so deep in the sand that you actually believe all white people are racist and everyone of any color are not. Wake up and smell the roses. Good people of any color are good and bad people of any color are bad. Everyone needs to suck it up and admit they are the cause of a lot of their problems. Ben Carson’s Mother is my hero, just like my parents. They never gave up and did what others wouldn’t even attempt to do.

So where were the zombies?

However much I may like the Joe Ledger character, his story is lost. All of the ultra PC crap in the last couple books has spoiled him. This wasn't a zombie thriller, it felt more like a political statement.

A very rare achievement

Well as a long standing maberry fan, I can say that he achieved something unique here. Still of night is not only for me the best entry to date in this series, it is also a good shout for being one of the best in the Joe ledger series too.

Ray Porter continues to be one of the best narrators around, and I just wish I could listen to this again afresh.

A great listen for any Joe Ledger fan

A good story that mixes fan favourites with new and likeable characters. It needed more Des Fox and Billy Trout though.

The crossover doesn’t marry up with Rogue team international which was a shame.

sooo good.

Such a joy to listen too. I didn't realise how much I missed Joe Ledger and esp his inside monologues. The Batman analogy was absolutely brilliant. Loved the new characters Dahlia esp. I squeeled when an old character turned up. I truly hope there will be more in this series. As for Ray Porter he just nails it every time. Next to R C Bray he is the best.
