Publisher's Summary

Every fall, hunting season in Sorenson, Wisconsin, leads to some accidental injuries. Deputy coroner Mattie Winston just hopes the hunters don't bring any more business to her office. But somebody seems to have declared open season on land developers. One real estate developer who's recently come to town has been found dead in the woods, with an arrow through his neck. Now it's up to Mattie to get to the bottom of the killing.

That might be easier if she wasn't also hunting for Detective Hurley's teenage daughter, Emily, who has suddenly disappeared. With a homicidal William Tell out on the loose, Mattie is desperate to find Emily before the killer notches another arrow.

I Love Mattie

This is one of my favorite series. Mattie is funny, intelligent and realistic. I love her relationship with Hurley and the other supporting characters. The mystery was well written and very clever. The worst thing about this book is that it's over and I have to wait for another book to be published.

Best Book of the Mattie Winston Series

This book explores several interesting topics. Dom's secret wish, mean girls, single mother turmol, the importance of commication and ferious love for family. Sounds vague and cheesy but i dont want to spoil anything. Good "road read" for family with teens.

Enjoyable

I have found this to be an enjoyable series, set in a small town in Wisconsin (my home state). It's not over the top with action, or sex, just a nice comfortable listen. I would recommend to start with the beginning of the series though.

gotta love the heroine or else...

Ok. I'm sick of Mattie. If I don't like the heroine, I lose interest in the books. And I'm not liking Mattie much anymore. The books started out humorous but now everything is just a drag and Mattie has stood in her own way to finding happiness once too many times. I didn't even finish reading the book as it was just too depressing.

Very heartwarming storyline

Annelise Ryan has crafted a very heartwarming storyline. The characters were well crafted and Ryan allowed us to get into the hearts of the characters. I highly recommend this book/audiobook to mystery thriller fans.

Great story to pass the time with old friends!

I was wondering what was up with my favorite M E (medical examiner). I tracked this book down. Great story as usual. Great characters. Great narration! So why 4 stars? It just sort of felt like same old same old. But you know what? I'll still look forward to and mostly likely buy the next outing. Because I like my old friends...

I've really tried

I liked the first two books, but can't put my finger on why I haven't been able to finish the others. I think it's simply that I want more humor, which is a personal thing. The writing is pretty good, I like the characters mostly, and I learn a lot about forensics, but Maddie doesn't seem to enjoy herself ever since the first couple of books. It's all complain complain, as if she expected to get a gift card for having unprotected sex instead of another person.
