Michelle Heighway
Step into My Flow is a deeply personal collection that explores themes of self-discovery, healing, and the beauty of everyday moments. Through intimate, unfiltered language, Michelle Heighway reflects on the divine feminine, creativity, and the interplay between the self and the universe. With a minimalist, unpunctuated style, this collection embraces vulnerability and imperfection — inviting listeners to pause, reflect, and embrace their true selves. It celebrates transformation and the quiet energy that shapes our inner landscapes.

“Experimental modernist.” — Toria Garbutt, critically acclaimed poet
“A poetry machine with a full engine.” — Damo Suzuki, frontman of German experimental band Can
“A lovely collection with a sparkling tone throughout; much to relate to and to be inspired by.” — Zoë Howe, writer, broadcaster, artist
“A deeply introspective collection.” — Richard C. Bower, award-winning poet
The theme of nature connects to the journeys we take, the evolution and growth we experience in life, and opportunities to begin again. Nature is powerful and full of wonder and awe, but it is also calming, healing, and restorative. We see this sense of calm throughout the collection.
The collection connects to themes of creativity and divine feminine. I enjoyed how this collection invites us to reflect on everyday moments and how poignant they can be in understanding ourselves. Everyday moments have lasting impact. The collection reminds us to be more present in the everyday moments - to be more mindful.
The collection invites us to pause and reflect, and the poems stay with us. There were many poems that resonated with me, including “Moon,” “Incubate,” “Autumn,” “Tapestry,” “I Am a Woman,” “Goals,” “Step Into My Flow,” and “Revisit.”
I recommend readers listen to the audiobook, narrated by Heighway. Poetry is inherently an immersive reading experience. Combining text with audio we get to experience the cadence and energy of the poems. We understand the perspective of speaker and the emotional impact from the poems reverberates even more.
I found the idea of flow to have many meanings: the flow of a river, the flow of rain on window pane, the flow of roads that take us on many journeys in life, the flow of seasons, the flow of the path(s) we choose to take, the flow of energy, and even the flow of our everyday.
