Publisher's Summary

Earth has fallen.

A genetically designed plague has ravished the birthplace of humanity, leaving millions of undead wandering the planet.

But there is hope. An alien ally claims to have the cure.

Captain Jayde Thrin and her mercenary crew volunteer to retrieve the antidote and do the job for free, but ruined planets, aliens with ulterior motives, and the threat of invasion will stretch the crew beyond anything they have ever known.

Steel for Free is the second episode of Galactic Mercenaries, a space opera series about zombies, space battles, alien invasion, and a misfit crew trying to survive in a dangerous universe.

One Thing After Another

For a short story, this one is all action. The story continues and I can’t wait to see where this goes.

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

A continuation of the adventure

This episode continues the adventures of Jayde and her crew. She finds things are not as they appear or as explained. She undertakes a job of trying to locate a cure to the plague that has devastated the galaxy. She is forced to sneak in to obtain payment for the cure and then discovers that the job is still not finished.

The story is an easy listen and enjoyable. The narrator does a good job of making the story understandable and fun.

This book was provided free of charge and this review was voluntarily done.

This series is growing on me!

This is the second episode of the series and it’s better than the first... or maybe I’m just getting to know the characters and so I’m more invested. The parts of the series is more episodic than say a trilogy of books. The episodes tend to end in cliff hangers, but while I hate that in full length books, it’s okay here. I also recommend reading the first one before the second... not sure they really stand alone, nor that they need to do so in this format.

Overall, if you’re into space opera, this follows that genre in a fun way with those loveable true at heart but outside the law bands of spacers!

Great action packed story!

For a short story feels like a lot happens to the crew of the Determination. Episode 2 was just as good as the first one (if not better) looking forward to listening to Episode 3! Narration and writing are top notch would recommend.
