Publisher's summary

Within the walls of Truvy's beauty shop are six women whose lives increasingly hinge on the existence of one another. Together, they absorb the passing seasons, just like the weathered wooden structure of the salon "home" that they share.

An L.A. Theatre Works full-cast production, starring Frances Fisher, Jeanie Hackett, Shannon Holt, Amy Pietz, Brittany Snow, and Jocelyn Towne. Additional voices by Josh Clark. Directed by Jessica Kubzansky and recorded before an audience by L.A. Theatre Works.

I'm Truvy!

This recording was helpful in studying my lines for our local production of Steel Magnolias.

Fan of the Movie? Fan of the play

I personally like this movie very much, even though I'm a dude, and so hearing the play performed audibly was a treat. Like most plays translated into movies (see "Simon, Neil" or "LaBute, Neil" or "NFL Players, Kneel") you have to make that mental transition from seeing Truvy's to the Christmas party to the wedding to the funeral scene in the movie to knowing everything happens all on stage, all in Truvy's shop, in the play. And its done quite well. Loved hearing this, and it was perfect for a quick 2 hour drive one day as I traveled. Add in the fact that Brittany Snow is hot as rock fire (and so is her voice) and you've got a delightful little play performed into your ear canals. Recommended if you have a credit to spare, or just toss a few bucks at it. #Audible20ReviewSweepstakesEntry Audible 20 Review Sweepstakes Entry #ShamelessContestEntry #GimmeACredit #Please

Great rendition

Love all of LATW productions. They are well done, good sound quality and of course fantastic acting. You can access on their website too.

incredibly witty and emotional

Though mostly just chit-chats, these 6 women were so very fond of each other and free-spirited that the whole play turned out to be a humorous flow of non-stop bickering. A 4-star rating for the story and an overall 5-star for the performance version. With simply 6 characters chatting aimlessly, the numerous funny statements with a tint of sadness nonetheless made Steel Magnolias a wonderful comedy.

Better than the movie

This fills in some of the blanks about Shelby. The movie is great but the play is worth the time also.
