Mirabell Steele has torn her family’s trading business back from the clutches of her unsavory uncle. Now, in an attempt to reclaim her family’s good name, she chooses to enter the first Warlord Games as a Lanistae. With little money to spare, she is left with a ragtag group of warriors and healers who have their own shady reputations.

In order to win the Games, Mirabell’s team must compete in three competitions throughout treacherous arenas. If they succeed, she wins fame, fortune, and the coveted title of The First Warlord. But her team clashes, obviously not compatible.

Mirabell must work with what she has, but she feels all hope may be lost if she cannot step up as a leader and pull them together. She must also keep a watch out for fellow Lanistae who are hellbent on crushing Mirabell’s team by any means necessary.
