Publisher's Summary

Eli Sabatino, determined to make a name for himself amid Seaside, New Jersey's nightlife, has laid out the perfect plan for success. But that plan didn't include Layla, the hopeful bartender who walked in for an interview. He knows that as an employee this alluring blonde is off-limits, but he can't fight the undeniable force of attraction that pulls him toward her.

Layla Del Luca has the weight of the world on her shoulders. With a full course load, a boyfriend, a sister to take care of, and an alcoholic mother, she needs to regain control of her life. Her job at Fierce is priority number one. But a complication she didn't expect looms behind the eyes of Eli, her handsome new boss.

Emotions collide full force, and they can no longer turn a blind eye to what their hearts are telling them. But can their passion survive when Eli can no longer promise the one thing Layla asks of him? Will everything change?

Amazing!!!!!

Amazing amazing amazing!!!! Loved this book! This book has you falling in love with both Eli and Layla right away. It will have you laughing and crying and make you feel every emotion the characters themselves are feeling.
Also great narration, you can hear the emotion in both narrators. You're still about to lose yourself in the story while you listen.

Why why why?????

Why do this to people? This was just a major kick in the stomach. I read prior book to know what happened... I wish this book was about how two people decided to take a chance on love... Happy... The end. Not to have this happen...
TWICE. I have endure this tragedy from Cooper and Jaylinn's story... And now this. I was hoping it was not gonna end that way.

A compelling story that gripes your heart

Would you consider the audio edition of Stay for Me to be better than the print version?

The print version of this story just wraps your heart and soul up and capture your attention. I found the audible equally as gripping with the storyline, however found the man narrator to be a bit distracting. His voice was just all wrong for Eli Sabatino. It was too dark, menacing of a voice for this already deeply dark and emotional read.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Eli. I've loved his story from the the moment we met him in Let Me Love You. I want him to have his happily ever after. I want to know more about this man who loves unconditionally and opens his heart to a family, not just a girl.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Both voices were crisp, clear, and easy to understand. The girl narrator was much less distracting than the man, only because her voice did not have a harsh edge to it. Both narrators did change their tones when speaking as a woman and a male, which is common in audibles, but I found them a bit distracting and not necessarily needed. I would not have picked the man narrator for Stay For Me. This story already hints at a dark emotional storyline at the very beginning and from that moment on I felt like I was in a private investigator movie from the early 40's.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book gobbles my heart and soul up every single time I read it. Eli and Laila's story is breathtakingly beautiful. It is to date, no doubt in my eyes, Megan Smith's best book. In Stay for Me, she connects you so deeply to these characters that you feel their love, devotion and loss. This book ranks up there in my top books to have ever read or listened to.

Any additional comments?

For some reason my audible did not contain the entire story. The last 1 maybe 2 chapters was missing. It ended as Cooper was with the paramedics not allowing me to hear that Laila does indeed die. I know this because I've read the printed version several times. Should I have been new to this book and it cut off, I would have been very upset and felt jipped.

Wow

I am at a LOSS FOR WORDS right now...and I can't even tell you WHY because that would be the BIGGEST spoiler EVER.

Oh.
My.
Gosh.

What did I just finish listening to? My jaw has quite literally hit the floor, so I guess I should start by picking that up...

I am legitimately at a loss for words, so this review is proving to be quite the challenge to write. Hmm...let me see...

I don't think I had ever listened to a book narrated by Chris Ruen nor Savannah Peachwood (that I remember) but I really did enjoy their work! Chris Ruen definitely made Eli sound sexy AF. So yes, FIVE STARS to the narration of the book, hands-down.

As for the story...holy hell. Where can I even begin?

Eli and Layla's story is one that will forever stay in my heart.

From a crappy mom (to say the least) to an abusive ex-boyfriend to a lifestyle that kept knocking her down more times than not, Layla did NOT have anything easy. Enter Eli. He was her second chance at a LIFE, and not just a good one, but a normal one. She deserved a break and Lord knows her little sister did too. Fallon had to be THE CUTEST little girl ever, by the way. Books with little kids are always a plus for me because they add a special kind of humor to the storyline that really always makes me smile.

Now, here's the thing. I'm an over-thinker. As I read, my mind is always going a mile a minute, coming up with different theories and scenarios of what might be happening next in the book. Well, let me tell you that Megan Smith is the first author to completely surprise me with one hell of a curveball I did not even THINK about...AT ALL. That scenario didn't even begin to get close to crossing my mind. I mean, I knew something would happen, but THAT? Oh, hell to the NO.

Anyhoo, Eli is 100% swoon-worthy and a book boyfriend you need to meet. Now, STAY FOR ME is a spin-off of the Love Series and I have NOT read nor listened to any of the books within that series. Suffice it to say, I will be going back and checking them out. I got a glimpse of the characters within that series and I love them already, so yeah. I am going back. And NO, nothing is spoiled for me by reading this completely out of order.

FIVE STARS to STAY FOR ME.

Eli and Layla .

This book was heart breaking especially the end of the book. I felt bad for Layla having to go through so much stuff with her boyfriend and mom . I love how she took care of her little sister Fallon. I am glad to hear that Layla’s mom got her act together to be a mom to her girls . I felt bad for everyone in this story. They went through so much at the end of this book. Eli final find the right girl to give his heart to and then she was taken from him . I hope Eli can find some one to love .

OMG! 👎🏻

I think this is only my second or third review, but I had a very strong reaction to the way things turned out so I decided to vent.
I should have read some reviews! I loved all the books up to this point, but this one was HORRIBLE!
Maybe my rating isn't totally fair because as an author, I like this one. And, I even loved the story, until I was blindsided by the ending.
Not totally fair to say the whole book was horrible because up until the last 15 minutes, I LOVED it. But, seriously, the ENDING! OH MY GOD! It sucked. I hate when I cry while reading a book, (most of the books I read are to escape the really of unhappy endings...I want to feel like all is well in the world for a few hours) but this ending not only had me crying, I was MAD! So, will there be another book about Eli? I need to look that up because I NEED to see him get a happy ending.

ENDS BAD

This ends very badly and there is not even a sequel about Eli. I was impressed with the writing and story line, but this very unexpected ending ruined it.

I hate it when....(spoiler)

I hate it when you get all into the characters and then one of them dies! I read books to feel good not to be bummed out at the end.
Other that the ending it was a good love story and I did enjoy it. Such a shame.
