Acerca de esta escucha

In this epic conclusion to Star Wars: The High Republic, the Jedi face a final confrontation against the Nihil and Marchion Ro.

The Force is everything. A single life connected to all life. All things connected to all other things. This is what the Jedi believe, and this is why they fight. For life . . . and the light.

For too long, the light has been threatened by Marchion Ro, a sinister despot who will stop at nothing in his quest for power. The conflict with Ro and his marauding Nihil forces has left scars across the galaxy and held the Republic hostage. Countless lives have been lost, beacons of hope have fallen, and the collective courage and resolve of the Republic have been tested like never before. Through it all the Jedi Order has endured, an unwavering candle against the encroaching darkness.

But the Jedi have yet to solve the mystery of the Nameless creatures who feed on the Force. Ro has loosed them upon the galaxy, striking fear into the heart of even the most stalwart Jedi. And yet with every life saved and world freed from Nihil control, the all-consuming blight, which devours everything wherever it appears, threatens to wipe it all away.

Everything now depends on nine brave Jedi, led by Avar Kriss and Elzar Mann, who embark on a treacherous journey to the Nameless homeworld. Their quest: to finally solve the mystery of the Nameless and their connection to the Force, and to stop the blight before its damage becomes irreversible.

But a final confrontation with Marchion Ro awaits. Ro, who is willing to sacrifice everything he’s achieved to secure a final victory against the Jedi and carve his name into the very stars for all time.

Nothing less than the fate of everything, perhaps even the Force itself, is at stake.

Absolutely fantastic resolution to a brilliant series. The High Republic was excellent all the way through.

the best Star Wars book of all in my opinion

The story skillfully brought together many of the various characters from the High Republic Era to a statisfying conclusion.

Compelling conclusion

I hate how the audio is loud at times and a whisper at other times

The ending

Overall, a good story—engaging enough that I finished it in under a week.

That said, it still left some gaps. I found myself wondering what happened to certain characters, with a few unresolved threads that could have used more closure.

The decision to take the overarching conflict in a wildly different direction from where the earlier books seemed to be heading left me feeling amiss. This isn’t how I would have written the story, and it took some of the momentum out of the overall series for me.

The interludes toward the end were also a bit distracting. They weren’t bad, but I would have preferred the focus remain elsewhere.

That said, I’m still intrigued by Planet X and how it might connect to the Mortis gods—hopefully that thread develops in a meaningful way moving forward.

As always, Marc Thompson delivers an excellent narration. His performance remains a high point in the audiobook experience.

Good story, still has holes

An epic conclusion, no doubt. Epic is the only way to describe it. Charles and Marc are at their peak here. The Nihil and the Blight are brought to a strong end.

I am sad its finally over, but this was a fantastic end to the series.

THR IS GOATED

Good story. I never lost interest. The only thing that made listening…challenging, was not laughing every time I heard Elzar Mann. I couldn’t stop seeing Joe, from Family Guy

It’s an ending.

This was a great ending to a great star wars series. There is a lot of action that will keep you listening, and the ending will probably shock some of you.

Great ending.

for Light and Life, the conclusion to the High Republic and the Nihil conflict is here, and how wizard it really was!

Marc Thompson proves once again that he is THE voice of Star Wars and delivers an absolutely incredible performance. Combine that with the masterful writing and story has made each book in the series an absolute pleasure to lose yourself in. However to me, I think this one was a pretty big miss. The overall story was okay but the choice to change how previously well established characters behaved and take the overarching conflict in a wildly different direction from what all the previous books seemed to be building up to left me feeling like a rug had been pulled out from under me and i had no idea where I was or what I was reading. To sum it up, this is a decent book but it was not a good conclusion to the overall series at all.

A Swing and a Miss
