Publisher's summary

As the Yuuzhan Vong's devastating conquests continue unchecked, Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles are forced to destroy what they have risked their lives to create.

Scattering after the Yuuzhan Vong's invasion of Coruscant, the panic-stricken members of the New Republic Advisory Council pause just long enough to set up a mock defense on nearby Borleias and attempt to buy time - which fools no one, least of all the Jedi. Bearing down swiftly on Borleias is a Yuuzhan Vong invasion fleet, determined to destroy the galaxy's remaining defenders.

Luke Skywalker's dangerous assignment is to sneak into the Yuuzhan Vong's stronghold on Coruscant. His outrageous scheme to gain entry is either brilliant or suicidal, depending on the outcome.

best so far

I've been working my way through all the Vong books. when they were first released I mostly skipped them for various reasons. As I've been going through them now, I largely feel like I hadn't missed much. Then I got to this book. All around really good! Cant wait to go through the next one.

Alexander Adams does an incredible job

With all of the New Jedi Order books Alexander Adams voice coupled with the music and audio production quality makes these addicting to listen to.

Amazing change of tone from the last few

I’m going through the vong series right now and loving the ride. The writers have done an amazing job for the most part. I wish Disney would fanchise the rights to this storyline to HBO or something for a TV series with the vibe of Game of Thrones.

That said, this particular book was a great change of writing from the preceding 1-2 books.

It brought back the style that made me fall in love with Vector Prime and the other first few books in this series.

Again, This book was great. Honestly I really wasn’t liking the few books since the 3 solo kids went to get captured intentionally. It was completely idiotic and just so unbelievably stupid that it was a grueling ~9hrs or so to listen to. They could have wrote a better story to end the solo boys. Id complete those books and audibly exasperate: “thank god I’m done with that one. I need a break from this sh**”

The change in writing and brought back a believable journey. It was refreshing and energizes me for the rest of the series :)

Way too short for the money

Well written, however for 12 bucks to have a 3 hr book is not worth the money.

Abridged Version Fails to Deliver. Again

As I’ve gone through this book series on Audible, I’ve become increasingly bitter at these abridged versions. The missing story matters. So many things I’ve missed and have had to go back to outside sources and try to piece together what happened. I hate them. I’d absolutely advise against anyone getting these. Just buy the paperbacks. Abridged audiobooks aren’t worth it, and I regret ever wasting my credits on these.

average

nothing dep or spectacular here. perhaps the unabridged book would be better, but this more or less reads like a tv miniseries.

Good but extremely abridged.

This was one of my favorite NJO books and I have read the paperback several times. That being said I got the audio book because I wanted to try it with professional narration and was shocked how much they cut out. They keep pretty much all of the main story beats but took out quite a bit of dialogue that was both fun and helped with character development. They cut my favorite Lando quote. I later found out the whole series is abridged in audio. if you want to get the whole story in a short easily digestible package to catch up then go for it. If you want the whole experience then buy the physical book.

Not exciting enough to be a Star Wars book.

I wasn't really impressed with this storyline. It wasn't excited, or thrilling for it to be a Star Wars book.

like hearing a story from a drunk

Abridged so badly that the kindle books don't synch up with the audible and the story just lurches around like a drunk with random, unexplained motivations.
