fantastic

This novel is a great background story to the force awakens supplying some much needed materials on the state of the galaxy. Bloodlines answers some of the obvious questions for the Force Awakens like why is there a resistance and a new Republic and where did the first order come from?

Fantastic

After the mess "Aftermath" was I've been hesitant of purchasing books leading up to "The Force Awakens." However, "Bloodline" and "Lost Stars" have both been excellent. I had a bit of skepticism surrounding the narrator, but she's perfect for Bloodlines "Leia" thick plot. If you're not a Leia fan, don't worry...this story does a great job exploring the impact Darth Vader had on individuals and ends up revealing much of the political plot that results in the formation of The First Order. A perfect story for Star Wars fans!

Gives closure, understanding and very well written

I really enjoyed the insight it gives into the culture, politics and life since the end of the Empire. Understanding the climate and events prior to Force Awakens was enlightening and deepens understanding of what happened between Leia and Han and between them as parents and Ben. The way the events unfolded in the book was classic Star Wars. Literally finished the book in two days. So good.

Amazing

Perfectly sets up the 7th movie as far as politics go, and not in a boring way like the prequels.

Intriguing

Finally we get answers.Amazing book.full of intrigue and loaded with information. The only negative thing is that it doesn't continue with Thane but it was good to finally know how the resistance got started. It took all my strength to put it down for another day.well going to start it over and listen to it again. Good reading or listening everyone

What "Aftermath" should have been

I really enjoy the production value of these new Star Wars novels, including the recent "Aftermath" novel by Chuck Wendig. That novel, however, was a disappointment. "Bloodline" is everything I wanted aftermath to be. It gives a direct insight into how the First Order rises to power and allows us to get a better insight into Leia and her feelings about her parentage. Claudia Gray did a wonderful job with the plot, setting up interesting characters with different perspectives about the former Empire in a way that makes the rise of the First Order believable. I hope she continues to contribute more to the new EU.

literally kept me listening for 10 hours straight

this book was phenomenal. between the voice acting from the narrator, the sound effects and the writing, I was glued to the story for 10 hours straight. I am a truck driver and usually I take breaks while listening to a book. I couldn't take a break with this book. I had to know what happened next. this is my favorite star wars book so far. it's a must hear.

Princess Leia & the Politics of the New Republic

This is the second book by Claudia Gray that I've read in the Star Wars universe, the first was Leia, Princess of Alderaan. This book concerns Princess Leia's life as a senator in the New Republic and the supposed ride of the First Order. A good portion is devoted to the political climate and backroom dealings that ensue. While Princess Leia is well written and a well rounded character, the political parts read more like a soap opera. The missions the Princess embarked on were a bit of a stretch, with the action being somewhat unbelievable. I struggled with this book, as it took an unusually long time to finish. At times I simply got bored. The storyline finally picked up close to the end. A short story about one of the characters is included at the end as well. I read this book using immersion reading, while listening to the Audible audiobook. Narrator January LaVoy has a beautiful, expressive voice. Only the male characters were a bit off. For me personally, no one writes Star Wars politics better than James Luceno.

An enjoyable listen

Found myself drawn into the story and couldn't stop listening, good narration and was left wanting to hear more of the birth of the resistance.

What a story

Awesome, absolutely loved this . Definitely shows the beginnings and hints to the birth of the First order. A recommended read for Star Wars fans who want to know the broader spectrum of how truly courageous Lea is in the build up to the force awakens.

Political Intrigue

I throughly enjoyed this story, both in book form and audio.

It’s quite heavy on the politics of Star Wars, but personally I’ve always found this fascinating since Episode I.

There are a few plot points that I would question, but on the whole I found it worthy of the Star Wars title.

A surprise to be sure, but very welcome one.

Started this book for backstory to the films, not expecting much. It greatly exceeded expectations.

An essential to understand the sequel trilogy

An essential to understand the sequel trilogy. I've read many Star Wars books in my life. Most of them were mediocre at best, and largely irrelevant. They were poorly written also. Bloodline is the absolute opposite. It's very well written and has lots of relevant information about the events that happened between Ep VI and VII.
