Publisher's Summary

An all-new novel based upon the explosive Star Trek TV series!

No one in the history of histories has lost more than Philippa Georgiou, ruler of the Terran Empire. Forced to take refuge in the Federation’s universe, she bides her time until Section 31, a rogue spy force within Starfleet, offers her a chance to work as their agent. She has no intention of serving under anyone else, of course; her only interest is escape.

But when a young Trill, Emony Dax, discovers a powerful interstellar menace, Georgiou recognizes it as a superweapon that escaped her grasp in her own universe. Escorted by a team sent by an untrusting Federation to watch over her, the emperor journeys to a region forbidden to travelers. But will what she finds there end the threat - or give “Agent Georgiou” the means to create her old empire anew?

Loved It!

Now that the new streaming video series are probably delayed due to COVID-19, it was fun to have something new on Star Trek. Thanks!

Georgiou On Point!

I loved that this story ties in elements from TOS and DS9. I felt that it started out very, very strong and then kind of went a bit of the rails in the middle. It was good by the end, but at that point, I was ready for it to be over. Three stars overall, because while the idea behind main storyline is good, there were times where I felt like it was just tried to take on too much and jumped the shark a bit. My biggest problem with it (and I've seen this before in other Trek books) is the introduction of (to me) an over-the-top alien race that is strange and over-the-top just because it can be in a novel.

Georgiou is great in this one one and if you're a fan of her character on Discovery, this is definitely worth the listen. The narrator does an awesome job with this novel and has an uncanny ability to slip in and out of character voices. Her rendering of Georgiou is so good, at times you think it's Michelle Yeoh.

This, however, definitely does fall into the category of "new" Trek (Disco, Picard), so if you are looking for a classic TNG style story, this one may not be for you.

Another Universe to Conquer

Filipa is empress in bones, no matter the universe. Dax and Finigan fly close beside to follow, tame, steer, and inspire. The empress is out to find a weapon she lost and start a new empire, what she finds is better. Enjoy the ride, but keep your eyes on Filipa Gorgoe!

Good but not great.

It was just okay. The ending is better than the beginning and the middle is slow. The story's premise is also misleading. However, it does fill in some blanks about what events occurred between seasons 1 and 2 of Discovery.

Great story movie worthy

Well conceived story for the Star Trek Discovery Universe. Good back story on a most likable emperor turned into a Section 31 Secret Agent.

Not the worst book ever

The book was ok. It seemed to have a million different things going on. Multiple stories that tie together at the end can be good, but these were just kind of annoying. January LaVoy is great, though.

Love Section 31

This was a great link between Season 1 and 2 of Discovery.
The author captured the essence of the character(s) of Georgio masterfully.
Nice touch with Finnigan from TOS. Dax was an interesting addition, however it felt more like Ezri than Emeny!
Overall loved it.

Discovery

Was a good story to start (a story from the original series- added into Discovery), but does seem to wander half way through,

Georgiou Rocks

Really struggled (still do) with new Star Trek in some areas, particularly the over-emotionalism. But the books from this series have been absolutely wonderful.

I LOVE Emperor Georgiou in this. Absolutely LOVE her. Great story, great characters who support her, those being Emony Dax and Finnegan (hope I spelt that correctly, if not, apologies) and Georgiou‘s potential love (formerly Phillipa’s from different universe) interest is fascinating as a trader.

Was interested to briefly hear a character called Maddox in Georgiou‘s Universe, want to know more (am a massive Data fan).

Wonderful narration, kept me glued to hear the twists and turns.

Thank you :3 🖖🏻

Hard as Nails

It's a good story. It captures the badass Georgiou perfectly. I'm a bit more inclined towards the Captain than the Emperor, personally... but Miller has done an excellent job with this crazy tale.

The narration by LaVoy is flawless.
