Great story, okay performance

If you could sum up Squire in three words, what would they be?

Really awesome storyline.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Nealan of Queenscove will always be my favorite. I love the relationship he has with Kel, where they have each other's backs no matter what.

Did Bernadette Dunne do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

This is the one thing I didn't like. Yes, Bernadette Dunne did a good job differentiating the characters from one another. However, I didn't enjoy the voice she used for Kel. It was kind of nasally and I didn't think it would be the kind of voice that a girl between the ages of 14 and 18 would have. That could just be a personal preference.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but unfortunately I couldn't. As with any audiobook, it was simply too long.

It's a really good story, with a really strong female protagonist. I highly recommend it.

I love Bernadette Dunn's voice it's so soothing. Squire is probably my favorite book in this quartet and Dunn does it well.

This is series has become my favored in all of Tamora Pierce’s works. It’s a joy to go back and read over and over again.

Bernadette Dunn did a magnificent job narrating a wonderful story. I thoroughly recommend this audiobook.

My favorite in the quartet!

This books moves along at a brisk pace and is so full of action. While the two earlier books seem a little more juvenile, this book tends to have more of the adult feel of Tamora Pierce's later novels. There is a decent amount of humor and fun to be had, as well as lots of character development and story.

The narrator's performance is very good and moves at a brisk pace. I also like the voice selections for the different characters.

Never discount a female from achieving great things

I have loved Keladry’s journey to knighthood. Tamara Pierce has written an excellent female role model for all young and not so young females. With the spanning of the four years of serving as a squire, we get to experience all the achievements and the rollercoaster ride that is adolescence to young adulthood. It was easy to identify with Kel’s attempts to understand love, lust, and all the confusion that accompanies these emotions. The only aspect of this audiobook was the strain of hearing the male characters sound like males experiencing puberty, even the adults. It was rather painful and annoying. Other than this, this was a lovely oral rendition of a beautiful story.
