Publisher's Summary

Triathlon for the Every Woman is a hilarious, fun and informative read - full of expert advice, training tips, and stories to turn a tired, busy woman into a tired, busy woman triathlete - no matter her size, age, or place in life.

Meredith Atwood, an overweight and overworked wife, mother, and attorney, went from the couch to the finish of a half Ironman triathlon in a little over a year. Her book, full of contributions from expert coaches, nutritionists and athletes, takes the reader through the disciplines of swimming, biking and running. In addition, the book includes comical accounts of battling the scale and the balancing act of training with a spouse, kids and a full-time job. The book will inspire and entertain - and have even the busiest of women taking on the challenge of swimming, biking, and running. Even for those lacking in time, motivation or hope, Triathlon for the Every Woman will turn everything around and make any woman a believer.

Just the inspiration I needed to get off the couch

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! I wish there was a way I could get my friends to sit down and listen for a few minutes, to get them hooked as well.

What did you like best about this story?

This is a REAL person with issues I can relate to. Not unattainable, just lots of hard work.

Which character – as performed by Angela Ellis – was your favorite?

Swim/bike/run mom.

Any additional comments?

I love the dry humor and wit that kept me interested while I was learning valuable tips on becoming a triathlete should I accept the challenge. I have just enough exposure to cycling to really appreciate her references to the queen for example. So motivational to listen to someone ordinary become extraordinary!

Funny, motivating, realistic.

What did you love best about Triathlon for the Every Woman?

- Funny
- Practical
- Realistic perspective

Who was your favorite character and why?

The author is really the only character, other than her trainer and husband she talks about.

What three words best describe Angela Ellis’s voice?

She isn't a bad reader. I just don't think she has the same sense of humor as the author that let her emote the subject the way the author would have.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Any additional comments?

No

Turned this motivation-killer off mid-run

What would have made Triathlon for the Every Woman better?

I picked up this audiobook to listen to while training to bump up from sprints to long courses. I thought it would be motivational as Iʻm also a beginning triathlete trying to make a positive change in my busy life. However, I only got a few chapters in before the authorʻs self-hatred and paradoxical entitlement issues became unbearable. I decided Iʻd rather run in silence than listen any more. This book is also heavily Christian and mommy-focused. Not my cup of tea.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Year of Yes

Would you listen to another book narrated by Angela Ellis?

No - I think the narrator added to that "Bible study leader who pretends to be friendly but is really just keeping an eye on you because her husband keeps having affairs with the choir members" vibe. Brittle, insincerely bright - this may have been the content and not the voice. Iʻm unsure.

What character would you cut from Triathlon for the Every Woman?

Itʻs autobiographical - so this question isnʻt applicable.

Inspirational

This is the second time I've listened to this book - noteworthy bc I almost never listen to books more than once. I love it and highly recommend this book to anyone - triathletes, those wishing to become triathletes, and those who are simply ready for a change. Thank you Swim Bike Mom for sharing your challenges and triumphs!!

a dull repetitive story with poor language

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?

I have no idea.

Has Triathlon for the Every Woman put you off other books in this genre?

No it did not

Would you be willing to try another one of Angela Ellis’s performances?

I don think so. She speaks too fast and often not very coherent

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment. My credit was spent on a story that was dull and badly written. And the story itself - is a good one and inspiring - if told properly.

Any additional comments?

I want this book to be returned .

Move yout butt

What made the experience of listening to Triathlon for the Every Woman the most enjoyable?

The narrator and the author are so up beat and not in the slightest bit pretentious.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Triathlon for the Every Woman?

I Googled 'prairie dogging' .....Eww!

What about Angela Ellis’s performance did you like?

Just the right amount of emotion (some sports narrator's go over the top) and emphasis

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Looking for something to motivate me to get fit. This one had the best preview.

Any additional comments?

Although i have no intention of having children or getting married. This book still works for me.

I used to be young and fit like the author, now i am old and wobbly and want to do something exciting with my life.

I have listened to this book three times in one sitting (i was preparing for my motivation to kick in) i walk with this playing, cook with this playing and even exercise with it.

I shall never look at a stationary bicycle the same way again

a triathlon guide for beginners

This book is not for women only, but for anyone who knows nothing about triathlons and believes that they cannot do it or that partecipating in a thriatlon is for other people...
Telling her personal story with humour the author made me understand that I can do it too...that I can get there too,
She gives every detail you need to know about triathlons to actually get set for one, from gear to training ideas to any possible information and trick.
good read.
