Publisher's summary

For every spearo there are issues to overcome, from equalizing problems and poor breath-hold to finding the good places to go spearfishing. This guide contains some of the best advice we have learned to overcome these issues and continue to get better as spearos.

When Levi and I started spearfishing (in different countries) we had lots of issues to overcome in order to spearfish safely and successfully. I battled with finding people to go with, finding the right places to go to, and putting together equipment that got the job done and didn't break the bank.

We both soon discovered that spearfishing has one of the steepest learning curves imaginable and so we started the Noob Spearo Podcast, a show where we track down some of the worlds best spearos and learn from their stories, experience and advice. This book contains some of that advice distilled into concise actionable tips for you to apply to your own spearfishing.

Advice from 40 of the world's best spearos right at your fingertips.

Tips help deal with topics such as:

  • How to find good places to go spearfishing
  • How to increase your bottom time
  • Improve your spearfishing hunting technique
  • Overcome common difficulties such as cramp, seasickness, and equalizing
  • How to find a mentor, dive buddies and get involved in competitions
  • Tips for how to be effective at shore & boat diving
  • Blue water hunting and more

practical advice for a spearo despite location

I really enjoyed listening to this. as a spearo for about a year now, most of this information I already knew or had been applying in my life. Yet, I find when I dive I think.of things that I have heard (usually music) to keep me relaxed. now after listening to this 3 times already I can review this information in my head while diving

We're all noobs in our own way

But with this book you can become a little bit less of a noob. Nobody wants to be the guy running late to the boat. Or the guy who forgets his dive mask after getting all the way out to the dive spot. Or the guy who has to edit 3 hours of raw gopro footage. Or the guy who code browns you from upcurrent. Or the guy who turns his best mate into a human shishkebab due to poor trigger discipline. Do yourself and solid and buy this work of noob art.

When the voice in your head could save your life!

Trust me when I say that having access to these tips in audible format will be a time saver, dive saver, and probable life saver at some point in your freediving/spearfishing journey! The podcasts are incredible, the digital book is great, the paper copy is stellar, but this is for the making of true legends. Hearing these tips read aloud really sticks in the memory banks and makes for easy retrieval of information when most needed. Have a listen on your way to your secret spot, or while sitting in traffic dreaming of your secret spot. No regrets with this purchase! Thank you, Shrek & Turbo, and keep up the awesome work!
