Publisher's summary

Revenge is a blade that cuts both ways. Sean MacLeod loses his family to renegades, but in his quest for retribution, he nearly loses his soul. Searching for redemption, he follows the Spirit Trail down the Missouri River, leaving the Blackfoot nation of the north behind for the rugged frontier of the Ozark Mountains. Sean's plans to rebuild his life take an unexpected turn, however, when a local girl is taken hostage by the Osage. Haunted by the ghosts of his past, his choice is a painful one-turn away and do nothing, or get involved and risk losing everything once more.

Suspenseful Western with a Masterful Narration

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

An excellent story that never bogs down. Great characters and characterization.

What other book might you compare Spirit Trail to and why?

The style is reminiscent of Louis L'Amour -- a very literary type of Western prose.

What does Philip Benoit bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Benoit shows remarkable skill in his voice characterizations. Some narrators simply try too hard and sound like bad impersonators. This work, though, makes the characters shine through and the narrator focuses on the story rather than trying to draw attention to himself.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A Western without the cliches.
