Publisher's Summary
Auditions are now closed! Thank you everyone for your wonderful submissions!
Boston, Massachusetts: It's the summer of '69-the parks are flooded with flower children and a hot new band called Led Zeppelin is set to appear at the Boston Tea Party. But for one newlywed couple just beginning their lives together, there will be no peace. In the cradle of sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll, Gus and Elsbeth LeGarde are music students attending the New England Conservatory of Music, after a wedding kept secret from their families. When they discover a bruised and sobbing teenage girl on the Boston Commons who can't remember who she is, or how she got there, the couple decides to "adopt" her to help find her identity. But Gus and Elsbeth aren't prepared to be plunged into a violent world of rape, abuse, and a ring of white slave traders who'll stop at nothing to take back their property - or to acquire new flesh in the form of Gus's beautiful young bride. At times nostalgic, heart-stopping, and breathlessly dramatic, Spirit Me Away is a thrilling romantic mystery set against the colorful backdrop of the sixties - with an unforgettable conclusion at the greatest rock festival of all time.

Interesting
Where does Spirit Me Away rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Top 10
What was one of the most memorable moments of Spirit Me Away?
The baby.
What does Robert King Ross bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He brought the "vintage" to it. He spoke the lingo well and made himself sound convincingly high, when needed.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, but way too long for that.
Any additional comments?
This wasn't the best book about female trafficking, but it wasn't bad either. I like that it was set in the past. This setting allowed for a more unique storyline.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Any additional comments?
"This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast."
As I've been reading this series, I feel like I know the characters until now. This novel goes back to when Gus was in college. It deals with the back story to
"Upstaged."
The narration is very well done. The voices felt like they fit the characters.

Back to the 60's with a gripping suspense story !
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This book combines several elements that would keep anyone's interest to the end of the story. It's not only a sweet love story but also a peek into the past of days gone by along with a compelling mystery that begs to be solved !!
What did you like best about this story?
I love the way the author describes in detail the clothing style and the lifestyle of the young people growing up in the 60's. I grew up in the 60's but I was not a "flower child" so I enjoy hearing about how they lived.
Which character – as performed by Robert King Ross – was your favorite?
The main character, Gus, was my favorite one performed by Robert King Ross. He portrayed Gus with humor, love, sexiness and wit along with a "real-life" personality.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I really enjoyed everything about this book but especially the parts that described the growing love and friendship of all of the main characters. They all looked out for each other and did all they could to keep their relationships happy.
Any additional comments?
I was left with an extreme desire to listen to more books in this series to see what happens to Gus and Elsbeth. They are a great couple.

Darker Side
The era of the 60’s and the flower children, the parties, and problems. Gus befriends a young girl, and soon finds them in trouble, especially with those that want his new brides. He is a struggling music student. This has a darker edge to it. Given audio for my voluntary review
