Publisher's summary
For Seattle detective Joanne Walker, spring is about new beginnings. She’s mastered her shamanic abilities (mostly), survived a cannibalistic serial killer (barely), and now she’s facing the biggest challenge of her career—attending a dance concert with her sexy boss, Captain Michael Morrison. But when the performance—billed as transformative—actually changes her into a coyote, she and Morrison have bigger things to deal with.
And there’s more. Homeless people are disappearing, a mystical murder puts Joanne way out of her jurisdiction and with the full moon coming on, it’s looking like the killer is a creature that can’t possibly exist. But Jo could probably handle all of that, if one ordinary homicide hadn’t pushed her to the very edge.…

Transformational :)
In the latest installment of the Walker Papers, Seattle police detective and shaman Joanne Walker finds herself in the middle of transformational hijinks and murder. At this point in C.E. Murphy’s fantasy series, Joanne Walker is maturing and gaining much needed confidence in herself and her talents. But don’t worry her self-deprecating and hilarious internal monologue is still present and priceless. Morrison’s and Joanne’s relationship is still remarkably awkward but makes slight progress only to take a monumental step back. While I find the lack of romantic progress irritating, this is a wonderful series and Spirit Dances is a solid addition.

LOVED IT!
What about Gabra Zackman’s performance did you like?
Gabra Zackman is a great narrator. She really makes the characters come to life. I have to say I started this series in print and dropped them for the audio version.
Any additional comments?
LOVED IT! I picked up the series and went through it in a couple of weeks. I had a few issues when the series started but I was still drawn to this world. I loved the characters. I started this book and though there wasn't enough Gary time for me I was still sucked in and had a few real life distractions but today I finally got to finish and WHAT a way to end this book. I have a few favorites books, and Spirit Dances is on that list. SD is also on my favorite list of the best ending's. This is not the end of the series but, WOW I've been running the ending over and over in my head all day, and I can't wait for the next book, Raven Calls! Good thing The release date is a few weeks away.

Another step as a sharman for Joanne
I enjoyed this book the most in the series. Joanne is becoming more mature as a sharman and we get to see more Morrison/Joanne interaction, we have been all waiting for. There are parts that are laugh outloud funny as well as touching. I am eagerly looking forward to reading more of Joanne's adventures. BTW, what happened to Gary the tough taxi driver? I sort of miss him..lol!
If you are new to the series I recommend that you start from the beginning but you can start from this book since there is a quick rundown of the story so far.

Great Premise. Boring.
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The premise was all it had going. Not enough events and long extended ...... to get to the events. Less about all the ..... More events, action. emotion, relationships of all kind needed.
This book did not make me wait for more. I kept listening hoping for more through the whole book. The last chapter was the only one worth spending time. I love supernatural.
The supernatural background should have been short and sweet not bla bla.
What was most disappointing about C. E. Murphy’s story?
I love Native American supernatural. It draws me. It was to drawn out and I was thinking get on with it. Too much detail......
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Gabra Zackman?
Like I said the Native American, werewolf, shift changer all of that was intriguing, however the long drawn out....... made me want to quit multiple times. The whole story could have been more concise, not boring.
What character would you cut from Spirit Dances?
She was okay with what she had to work with. Her voice was somewhat monotone. There were sexual tension that could have been more intense and dire situations more given the feeling of OMG. The long drawn out parts about the sha.....gifts were boring, not her fault.
Any additional comments?
Could have been great with the premise! Shame on the editors!

Author wasted a Sexy Police Captain
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A faster pace and more dialogue between JoAnn and her Captain boss could have saved this story. He is sexy, but his character gets lost until chapter 25! I selected this book, my first for this author, based on the description of JoAnn and her Captain.
What could C. E. Murphy have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Her humor is great, but too much useless description that brings no value to the story. No,you do not need to read her series in order. Good writing stands alone. This was a good story but needed a better editor or re write. If you are fan of this author, then this a good read. If you have not started with this author, I would not buy any of her stories based on how this was edited.
Which character – as performed by Gabra Zackman – was your favorite?
Ms Zackman is a great reader. I purchased this book because she was the reader, but even she can not make up for poor writing or editing.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
I forced myself to finish this story as I did not want to miss any dialogue between JoAnn and her Captain. This story had so much potential, wolf/sexy captain, but too much description filler which forced the reader to perform at a slow pace.
Any additional comments?
I could not even consider another book from this author. What a waste of a sexy police captain!
