In the Shadow of the Moon

When Laura Truitt first sees the dilapidated plantation house, she's overcome by a sense of familiarity. Inside, the owner claims to have been waiting for years and offers an old photograph of a woman with Laura's face. Soon afterward, when a lunar eclipse inexplicably thrusts Laura back in time to Civil War Georgia, she finds herself fighting not just for her heart but for her very survival.

Whispers of Goodbye

Alone and with nothing left to fear, Catherine deClaire Reed answers her sister's desperate plea and travels to the cold comfort of her home in Reconstruction Louisiana. But Elizabeth is nowhere to be found. No one - including her husband - has seen her for days. Now Catherine must search for her sister in a place where secrets wait behind every closed door.

Ok

The first book was an American copycat of Outlander. I did enjoy it but predicted every move based on Outlander. The second book was not as good and the narrator was terrible. She added pauses to every sentence causing the flow to feel awkward.

I've read this so many times

I really really love these books. I've listened 4 or 5 times since purchase. Shadows of the moon in my favorite, and I think the performance is better too. Whispers of Goodbye is a good book but I had to get over the performance because the accent isn't what I imagine and it pulled me out of the story. but I love love love these books.

Beyond excellent read !!!

I feel as if I was in the characters as their story was told, ever so encapsulated by the way Karen White used her talent to write. Can't wait to get the next book! Recommend highly for your next read !!

spinning the moon

"Moon" is a terrific story with great narrator. She is able to smoothly change into each character bringing them to life. The story captivated me so I listened every chance I had. Then, sadly, that novel ended. "Whispers" might be a good story as well, but I can't get past the voice and inflections of the narrator. I stopped listening altogether. should have kept the first narrator!

Thought provoking

I enjoyed the first story the best and felt that it was a five star all the way. The second story would get four stars across-the-board.

2 books, different ratings

I hate that I have to put 3 stars because I really enjoyed the first book. I like time travel romance and I liked the storyline of the first book and appreciated that there was practically no vulgar language and no sex scenes. I thought the narrator was very good.
The second book, I don’t know if it has any connection to the first one because I couldn’t get past the first chapter. The narration was horrible. It was very flat with no emotion. I would give it 1 star, because you can’t give 0, if it was by itself. I might try to read the actual book because she seems like a good author.

The first book is good. The second book is not good.

I did not like whispers of good bye. I only finished it because I used a credit for it.

VERY TOP OF MY "FAVORITE AUTHOR LIST"!!!!!

Karen White has absolutely moved to the top of my Favorite Author List! I haven't listened to one yet that I haven't been totally thrilled with. This book in particular is such a bargain for the credit. It is 2 complete books for one credit. If I didn't misunderstand what was said in the beginning, this book was her first two books published. They are truly fantastic books. The narrators are easy listening and definitely not distracting with their individual voices. With the hundreds of books in my library, I want another Karen White novel! Gezzz, that just means I have to buy more credits!

Don't let this one slip by you!! :)

Meh... second book was uncomfortable

First book was slow to start but picked up and got good. The second book was weird and uncomfortable even in the ending... just sort of weird all the way around. Her tradd street series is hands down the best she writes and you can tell these were novice. Still interesting to see how she’s grown.
