“Tchaikovsky nimbly takes the narration from horrific to humorous to epic and back again.”—Library Journal

This program is read by the author.

Spiderlight
is an exhilarating fantasy quest from Adrian Tchaikovsky, the author of Guns at Dawn and the Shadows of the Apt series.

The path to victory will only be seen through a spider's eyes...

The Church of Armes of the Light has battled the forces of Darkness for as long as anyone can remember. The great prophecy has foretold that a band of misfits, led by a high priestess will defeat the Dark Lord Darvezian, armed with their wits, the blessing of the Light and an artifact stolen from the merciless Spider Queen.

Their journey will be long, hard and fraught with danger. Allies will become enemies; enemies will become allies. And the Dark Lord will be waiting, always waiting.

I love the depth of so many of AT novels/series. While I loved this one I just wish it was longer! Perhaps I can hope for a sequel.

Funny! Wish it was longer.

Amazing story, good meditation on the nature of change. Dinged one star because there’s a couple times when he could have just gotten to the point a little faster, but that probably deserves less then one star off.

Great characters and meta narrative.

This may be my favorite Tchaikovsky book so far. I love his fantasy and it was wonderful that he narrated this one himself. He’s not only a wonderful writer but also narrator. 5/5 from me, very well done Adrian.

Another Wonderful Novel by A.T.

This is just a fun, well written fantasy romp. Narration is solid and there is some comedy and emotion here. Worth a credit for sure!

Tchaikovsky makes you like spiders.

Usually when the author narrates, the performance can suffer but not in this case. Every character has their own voice consistently throughout. As for the story, it was like a really well written Dungeons and Dragons campaign so I really enjoyed it. The ending was a little predictable but I really enjoyed the execution. Overall, highly recommend it.

My Favorite Tchaikovsky Book

I loved the relatively quick, witty, and fun nature of this story. There’s just enough depth to give the story substance without it being too preachy…although it dies veer into that a bit here and there. I highly recommend it as a quick fun read.

Funny and witty, with a moral to impart

A deft combination of humour and poignancy with a good plot and well rounded characters ( for an admittedly shortish story) delivered with excellent narration. I enjoy a good morality story that takes a gentle swipe at organised religion. I hope we get more self narrated books from AT in the future even though it is true that the quality of his voice does not lend itself well to car listening.

AT delivers another fantastic story.

The story was pretty good. There were points where you felt like yelling at the main human characters because they just didn't get what the obvious thing to do was. however, I liked the examination of the undefined other that was the humans found hard to emphathize with and understand. I also liked the examination of religion even though it was cursory. Not a deep story but fun and had a few moral lessons. I also liked that the author read the book and did a good job. This my first listen from this author, and I'd definitely listen to more from him.

First listen to this author went well

Spiderlight starts fast, but the writing and performance kept my full attention. It's a fascinating story. the last two chapters make me want to listen to the story again and I'm definitely picking up a physical copy of the book!

The story set my expectations and then far surpassed them.
