Publisher's summary

The 11th book in the fast-paced InCryptid urban fantasy series returns to the mishaps of the Price family, eccentric cryptozoologists who safeguard the world of magical creatures living in secret among humans.

Passion, noun:

  1. A strong or barely controllable emotion.
  2. Enthusiasm, interest, desire.
  3. See also “obsession”.

It’s been 50 years since the crossroads caused the disappearance of Thomas Price, and his wife, Alice, has been trying to find him and bring him home ever since, despite the increasing probability that he’s no longer alive for her to find. Now that the crossroads have been destroyed, she’s redoubling her efforts. It’s time to bring him home, dead or alive.

Preferably alive, of course, but she’s tired, and at this point, she’s not that picky. It’s a pan-dimensional crash course in chaos, as Alice tries to find the rabbit hole she’s been missing for all these decades - the one that will take her to the man she loves.

Who are her allies? Who are her enemies? And if she manages to find him, will he even remember her at this point?

It’s a lot for one cryptozoologist to handle.

Love this series

when I started this series I thought it was going to be a Buffy the vampire slayer replacement, but it was has replaced Buffy in my heart.. It has. the right mix of fun horror and killable bad people or acrylics that made me love the story and follow this family over book after book loving the stories of this family and their clan though out the years and I've not been disarmed yet thanks to the writing and talent that brings it to life

Finally Alice’s story - it was definitely worth the wait

It is always fun to immerse myself in the stories of the Prices, the hidden world of magic and the cryptids (non-humans) hiding in plain sight. This story is told from Grandma Alice Price-Healey’s perspective. Alice has been a character in or been at least mentioned in all the other books in the series but we get her full story in this one. Alice is in her 80s but looks barely 20. She has spent the last 50 years traveling between dimensions looking for her husband Thomas. Thomas is a sorcerer who made a deal with the crossroads to save Alice’s life. As payment for the bargain, he was taken away through a portal several years after the bargain was made. Everyone but Alice believes Thomas is dead. But now Alice has information confirming he is alive and, thanks to a recently discovered map, she has a specific dimension to look in. Alice’s family believes incryptids, who are not harmful to humans or other species, should be protected. So even before she started traveling through dimensions on a 50 year search and rescue mission, her life was dangerous. This book follows Alice as she once again sets out to find Thomas and bring him home. The story includes what you’d expect from this genre - fighting, dangerous situations, end of the world scenarios, paranormal creatures, evil actors, henchmen, loyal friends and family, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, snark, and laughs. This book, like all the books in this series, made me laugh, cry, gasp, and grit my teeth. This is book 11 in the Incryptid series and while each book can be read as a standalone, the books are best read in order. The book partially concluded Grandma Alice’s story arc beautifully but left enough unresolved issues to allow plenty of room for more cryptid books starring the Price family. And the possibility of more Price books is a fantastic thing.

Emily Bauer once again did a phenomenal job narrating and breathing life into the story and the characters with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly.

That Was So Satisfying

I've loved this series ever since I stumbled across it on Audible, and this was just.... amazing. I don't have the words to describe it accurately. Highly recommended, although you Really want to have read the rest of the series first.

Characters' personalities flawed

Over all, the story was good except for the luck thing that was always good.

Alice was a bit much. The combining of so many types of characters into one was very rough around the edges.

Incryptid delivers another new turn and it's great

My favorite series switches to a fresh perspective today with a Price family member we know, but haven't had center-stage before. As always, this takes an already great setting and series and shifts it in a new direction and adds fresh flavor. Very much enjoyed this latest volume and fascinated to see where the series goes next!

Fast Paced Adventure

After the last slower paced Incryptid I was ready for something a little faster paced and Seanan delivered. Alice is nothing if not impatient and it was a fun ride to go with her on her quest to find Thomas. I already have the next book queued up and ready to go.

Not the best InCryptid

Virtually no family present. Not really about InCrypteds. Too long stand-alone story only about Alice.
