Detailed descriptions and helpful exercises

I'm a college student pursuing a career in neuroscience. I have always heard about speed reading but never new much about it. I decided to give it a try so I did a ton of research. I found that most speed reading is just some sort of skimming but then I found this book. Emphasizing on speed comprehension and using the right brain appealed to me. Most of the recent research shows us just how powerful that part of the brain is and how much we are taught to ignore it through out schooling. Using these techniques I was able to go from 230 wpm to 450 wpm just after reading the book alone. The best part is I actually comprehend far more than before and remember all I read, even in complicated textbooks I can use the techniques and understand it. Truly a book worth any price. I believe the techniques Dave uses are the future of not only reading but all aspects of memory and the mind.

Far more natural than other methods!

This is a very useful book that reduces the pressure of brain and the concentration so that helps improve the efficiency of reading, but it needs to read more than one time with several practice so as to get the good results.

Five stars!! Recommended.

A worthwhile read for one who would like to pick up reading speed. Great use for visual thinkers. A year ago, I struggled through 1-2 book per month. Today I'm reading 1-3 books a week. Like Kobayashi with his hotdogs, a simple change in process of consuming certain things in certain ways (in this case its great books) ones can derive a great joy from something once difficult. Thank you Peter Filip for putting reading speed into a different point of view!

Great book.

The basic idea in this book is emphasizing comprehension over speed; the latter eventually catching up. The technique is based in reading thought units rather than individual words. Personally it was a very useful book, and it has really helped increase my reading speed (without sacrificing comprehension).

wow!! An awesome book with amazing narration!!

I liked the focus on comprehension and visualising what is read as opposed to blindly trying to cram as much words as possible into the mind. Exercises were interesting due to various writing styles that forced you to really focus and visualize the ideas rather than just looking at text. Will take a bit of practice but worth it. Good teachings overall.

Speed Comprehension - An alternative way to read.

I've been through many books and courses - but Mr Butler really knows the mechanics of our minds/brain. I could not put the book down. Insightful, well written and downright practical. The book in conjunction with his free website for speed reading (which is amazing in of itself and how I found the book in the first place) is a recipe for success - the only thing you need is practice and determination. Thank you to the author!
