Publisher's summary

Meet Hailey - possessed by an otherworldly being who was trapped in her Kindle.

Hailey Parrish is quick witted and irreverent and hasn't had a date in three years. She wanted an ebook reader only because her collection of paperbacks threatened to take over her small living space. Little did she know that the "special offers" that prompted the purchase included much more than a reduced price in exchange for a few ads. The device comes preloaded with the essence of Sebastian Kess, an erudite womanizer with magical abilities from a parallel dimension. When she inadvertently releases him, and he inhabits her body, she finally has a man inside her, just not in the way she imagined. And soon her predicament introduces her to yet another supernatural being - the handsome could-be-the-man-of-her-dreams Alex Sunderland. Can Alex and Hailey find a way to return Sebastian to his own body and stay one step ahead of the criminals who want to keep him where he is?

The audio lived up to the book!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend it to a friend, a family member, or even a person I saw on the street. Why? Because it's fun, quirky, and the narrator nailed the three lead characters voices. When you have a favorite book - of which this is one of mine -you worry about the audio version. A narrator's voice can make or break a book and when it's a favorite, that's a lot of pressure on the poor narrator. Well, she did a perfect job in my opinion. Not only did she do an amazing job at Hailey's, Alex's, and especially Sebastian'e voices, but she was amazing when she pronounced foreign words in the correct accent without missing a beat.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Special Offers?

Only 1? From the moment Hailey announces she's a Chinchilla milker, you know you're about to be on an amazing ride. And it just gets better from there. But if I had to pick a favorite moment, well, I can't. Because there are just SO many. When she meets Alex, the first time she talks with Sebastian, or that moment when she forgot her towel and kept her eyes closed so Sebastian wouldn't see anything and ends up taking a spectacular stumble out of the shower. It's such a wonderful story.

Which character – as performed by Hollie Jackson – was your favorite?

She did a perfect Hailey, getting her sarcasm and quirky character down perfect, but I'm also thrilled with how she did Sebastian, because his is a voice that's very important and she nailed it, I think.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The audiobook gave me the same reaction the ebook did - it made me laugh and unable to stop listening.

Any additional comments?

Give it a try. You will be glad you did. It's fun, interesting, introduces us to a parallel dimension Coursodon, and we meet some amazingly wonderful characters. Now I can hardly wait for Book II to get into audio so I can add it to my collection :D

No spoilers

Well hmmm this is the first book I've read by this author and I must say I really liked it. The story was a bit different from what I've read and found it refreshing. Loved the snarkiness. MS Ryan wrote a fun story and look forward to reading more. In a good way there is a cliffhanger not one where you say no no no and is still part of the book you've just read but one where a new book can be written from. I also got the Audible book I have mixed feelings about MS Jackson. She wasn't bad but not fantastic it was read a bit fast throughout. I tried to slow it down but that was to slow and the regular setting was fast hmm I'll try one more Audible in this series of not better i will read not listen to the rest of the books no biggie. Highly recommend this author.

Narrator is GREAT. Find another book by her; avoid this author

0 stars/listened & reviewed and asked for a refund

Omfg. I don’t need to know every single thing you do, every step you take, every frigging breath you take. The book is written in simplistic sentences that See Jane Run readers could follow it.
She is made of a lesser density than plastic. Actually, I don’t think she has any atoms, no matter nor mass. She’s a true functioning nothing.
“I’m sure he could tell from my blank expression, I had no idea what he was talking about.”

All telling. No showing. No emotions. No depth. No evoking a response. “It’s dead, Jim,” comes to mind.
Plot? Yeah. As promising as the book description is, it was most likely written by a more experienced person than ML Ryan. Because the book is poorly written and executed. Seriously, although it lacks a climax or fast pacing or death defying moments, Hailey was TSTL. A reader/listener will find themselves wishing and hoping a full blooded entity WILL win over her body. And give her more brain cells and personality.
The audio sample is a prime example of narrator Hollie Jackson’s skills and demand to be heard. I was only able to listen to this book in its entirety because she gave more depth and character to the book than ML Ryan could ever fathom. It was a joy to listen to Ms Jackson; the book barely deserved the time spent on it.

Hailey reminds me of that annoying person we work with. You can’t help but think it would be a joyous moment if a dinosaur came out of nowhere and just ate her, to put her and everyone else out of their misery.
The most decisive point was the cliffhanger. I HATE cliffhangers.
That aside, I rarely rate 1 stars. I try hard not to. But this fully deserved a 0 star and because that’s not possible, it has one. But this star is not illuminated and probably made out of horse dung.

EXCELLENT

Good start to a new series. I like the both the female and male protagonists, Hailey and Alex. Sebastian is also an interesting character. There are lots of action and the presentation flows smoothly throughout. Magic and alternate dimensions. Wonderful ideas. Hollie Jackson as always performs marvellously. I am so glad there three more books available to continue the story. M L Ryan is a talented writer and I do hope there will more books to come.

Great magical shenanigans

Any additional comments?

A chinchilla worker? How can you not love this premise? A magical whammy through the kindle and you end up on the middle of intrigue and adventure. With funny and ruthless characters alike there are no dull moments. A good listen overall. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Fabulous funny

I was gifted this audio ARC from the author/Narrator for a honest and unbiased review.
This is my first book by M.L. Ryan and I wasn't disappointed at all. The book was well written and funny but believable. This is book 1 and this is where I wish all the books were in 1 or even if I bought it as a set.
Hollie Jackson's work was far above most.
I highly recommend this book

A Great Listen

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher and found it very entertaining. I've always enjoyed books based on parallel worlds, this one has a bit of a warped sense of humour. It was great. The characters are well written and blend well with the fast moving plot. It made my commute seem quick. I will be getting the next audiobook.

Good listen

This was a really good listen. The narration was great and the book was a well crafted work. The main character was funny and believable and though there was sexual tension, it wasn't the main focus.
