Publisher's Summary

In a universe where technology and magic co-exist, Nicholas Lyons desires one thing: to serve his queen as a Space Knight in the Royal Trident Forces. But when his final mission as an Academy cadet goes horribly wrong, Nicholas discovers he possesses illegal magical abilities that grant him power far beyond that of a normal man, knight, or mage.

When a clandestine assignment lands Nicholas on the worst starship in the kingdom’s fleet, he finds a motley crew of warriors hiding their own terrible secret. Death and betrayal lurk around every corner, and Nicholas finds himself torn between his loyalties to his new crew, or the oath he swore to his queen.

And death no matter which choice he makes.

Mediocre

The story was mediocre, but I would listen to Nick Podehl read the instruction manual for a dishwasher.

Great Beginning

I'm a simple man, I see that the narrator was Nick and I bought it. I wasn't disappointed.

Cannot wait for Space Knight 2!!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Space Knight to be better than the print version?

I listen to audio books at work and haven't had the time to read the print versions of books though I would highly recommend the audio version due to the spectacular performance by Nick Podehl.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Space Knight?

There were many great moments and battles throughout the book and would probably say my favorite was when the squires had to face the Grindel Ogres.

Have you listened to any of Nick Podehl’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to a few of his including "The Land" series and he holds his high quality of work across all books that I've seen including this one.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"Where science and magic meet, you get Space Knights"

Any additional comments?

Another prime example of Michael-Scott Earle's growing collection of addictive books, cant wait for the next addition!!!

a little frustrating

this is a decent book. I don't want to spoil anything but Nick's blind trust is hard to accept. plus the fact that he thinks he can be a spy without any training...arrrgh so many problems with this. I almost gave up on this book 2/3rds through. glad I finished it. not sure if I will di ish the series.

must be some of author's early work

Not as well written as Tamer or the Destroyer series, but entertaining enough. I suspect thIs was an early work of Michael Scott Earle's.The main character is forehead slapping dumb, and the plot is rather predictable, but the narrator does a terrific job, and unlike many sci fi authors these days, at least the characters are each unique. I'm going to try the second book out since for whatever reason the last Destroyer and next Tamer books aren't up on Audible yet, but jury's out on whether I'll stick with this one to the end.

Such a good read

I found this audiobook to be a very entertaining and overall well done. The story sucked me in and I clung to every chapter. And the voice artist did an what I feel is an amazing job of capturing each character with tonality and accents. I am eager for the next book.

It was ok

Fantastic but pretty long drawn out there is supposed to be some superpowered squire this just trying to figure himself out. I did not see that at all. I like the concept enough in the performance was amazing Second book came out I will definitely buy it if it was on sale.

Kinda silly, lots of fun :-)

A careening mix of litRPG, magic space knights, wonderfully over the top and regularly insane characters, mixed with old school fantasy type writing containing more than a dash of Conan. Add in blood, guts, numerous funny moments and endless cliches. Glorious! I enjoyed a lot.

Naturally, this book should be taken for what it is - fun, not too serious. But even with that, the author manages to create successful dramatic tension. My only slight criticism is that the main villain is too, well, ridiculously villainous. But hey, that's the nature of the book! Buying the next now.

Oh and ps, it actually ends fairly conclusively. No stringing the reader on to a sequel, though it naturally leads on it is not forced. I appreciate that.

Excellent, keeps you hooked.

I really enjoyed this book, as a big fan of sci-fi, fantasy and computer games this seemed like a perfect synergy. The underlying story evolved as it would you were discovering it yourself. The fights were well put together and I very much enjoyed the imagery or the Knights and their unique characters. Great work from the narrator. Can't wait for the next installment

Nick performs well. Story is juvenile.

Yes, I can blame myself for choosing a story named Space Knight. But, I had hope - that was dashed thoroughly and quickly. Nick P is great, but there’s only so much life you can give to weak dialogue. The lead is as deep as a puddle after light rain. The portrayal of female characters is cringeworthy. The worst part - the lead is a moron. The hard working test acing squire is dumb as fuck and can’t put two and two together - surprise! the two dimensional badguys are the badguys. Don’t buy it.

strap yourselves in for warp people

This is one hell of a story, so much action, the world building is brilliant. The technology they use is awesome, loved the space/magic them, its a genre that I think should mix more often. If you like main characters that aren't hopeless and worthy of being the main character then you will like this book. Look forward to more books from this author, He has a new fan in me
