Story
Annabel and I have been close since college. When I left school to play pro football, she was there. While I collected Super Bowl rings and cars worth more than the house I grew up in — she was there. I always assumed we’d end up together. Everyone did. But by the time I retired from football, Bel was married. I thought I’d missed my shot at love.

Story
CEO millionaire Max Fletcher is a single dad in desperate need of a nanny. Cozy Barlow is in the middle of her self-appointed “gap year” and doing everything she can to detach from her past. But when her sister begs her to interview for the nanny position of a high-maintenance client, she doesn’t have a good enough reason to say no. And when Max locks eyes on the 20-something in a tie-dye sweat suit who pitches the idea of daydreaming all summer—he prepares to give this bad nanny the boot.

Story
The first time I met Merrick Crawford was during my job interview. Well, technically, I’d met him 20 minutes earlier when he’d barged into a fitting room a few doors down from my appointment. I yelled. He yelled. After an argument while standing in my bra, I proceeded to smash the door into the gorgeous jerk, trying to yank it shut. As you might imagine, I was freaked out when I discovered that the rude guy was my potential new boss. Yet he didn’t seem to recognize me. Or so I thought.... Until we wound up bickering again during my interview and he told me to go sniff my armpit.

After I’m arrested for throwing a raucous party, my hockey team says I have an image problem. And I need to fix it, stat. Charity work? Check. Haircut? Sure. But I draw the line at hiring my neighbor to style me. In the first place “style” shouldn’t be a verb. And I’m tired of people who’d judge me on appearances. Vera and I don’t see eye to eye on anything. She wants me to try on clothes, while I just want to remove hers. I knocked up my best friend's sister. Let's start with how she decided to inform me and Pacey the news...together. Imagine that nightmare. I was going into what I thought was a hockey marketing meeting, and then bam! I'm going to be a dad and my best friend/teammate is attempting to imprint my face with his fist. Threats were tossed around, friendships were revoked, and then I was marched up to her apartment, suitcases in hand, and forced to live with her so I could take care of her every need. Now I'm finding it harder and harder not to fall for my best friend's little sister.

Am I friends with JP Cane? Ha! That's laughable. Besides the fact that he’s adopted some far-fetched notion from the movie When Harry Met Sally that says men and women can't be friends and work together, it’s safe to say we're not friends. He's annoyingly loud, obnoxiously handsome, and has made an art out of poking all my hot buttons...multiple times a day. So you can imagine how disgruntled I am when I not only have to fly to San Francisco with him for work, but stay in the same penthouse. Yup, we're sharing the same air, 24-7. We're talking full-fledged working roommates.

Dear Mr. Vega: I felt it necessary to follow up on today’s meeting, since we weren’t able to speak candidly in front of your son. I was shocked to discover that you are Ryder’s dad. I think it would be best if we just pretend that we met in person for the first time today. Your son is a very bright (flirtatious and talkative) student and since his education is a top priority for both of us, I hope I can count on you to respectfully refrain from grinning at me, using that sexy tone of voice, and undressing me with your annoyingly beautiful brown eyes....

When discipline is your life, structure’s a good thing, and Owen Johnson’s got plenty of both. An All-Pro NFL center who’s also a cattle rancher? Yeah, that’s structure. His marriage didn’t work out, but then, he picked the wrong woman. A Wyoming ranch doesn’t look nearly as romantic up close. Not to a model, anyway. Next time, he’ll choose better. Not, for example, a 19-year-old ball of fire like Dyma Cardello, who’s just starting on her own journey. To become an astronautical engineer. After about five years of schooling. Which she’s focused on like, well, a rocket.

After achieving the goals I set for myself, I walked away from my professional hockey career. It was a tough decision, but the right one at the time. When the Titans organization approached me about joining the team they were rebuilding following a devastating plane crash, I felt a passion for the game and a competitive spirit I hadn’t felt in years. The opportunity to make a huge difference to a lot of people spoke to me, and I accepted their offer and headed to Pittsburgh without a second thought.

Publisher's Summary
He was the bad boy I fell for in college. Now he’s a sexy single dad and Charleston’s most successful venture capitalist. Dominant and decisive, Ford Montgomery is used to getting what he wants. And he just set his sights on me...
Ford Montgomery was my first everything.
First love.
First guy I slept with.
First heartbreak when he dumped me without explanation.
A decade later, it’s just my luck he’s the first guy I run into after moving back to my hometown of Charleston. Three-piece suit, tie, and a watch worth more than my car - being a mogul looks good on Ford. So does being a doting dad to his adorable four-year-old daughter.
I tell myself I can resist him. But one impulsive, ill-advised kiss later, Ford is in hot pursuit. He’s determined to make up for his past mistakes and convinces me to give him a second chance.
What started as fun between the sheets gets really serious, really fast. Problem is, I swore I’d never give up the dreams I worked so hard for to settle down and do the family thing.
But seeing Ford light up around his daughter - seeing how he’s chasing his ambitions while rocking fatherhood - is making me rethink what I want out of life.
It doesn’t help that behind his corporate veneer is the bad boy I fell in love with. And bad boys aren’t afraid to play dirty...or break hearts.
Southern Heartbreaker is a full-length, stand-alone romance. It is part of the Charleston Heat Series, which is a series of interconnected stand-alone novels set in the steamy Southern town of Charleston, South Carolina. The books can be listened to in any order.

Great Story!
Another swoon worthy installment in the Charleston Heat series. While this is book 4, it can absolutely be read as a standalone. In Southern Heartbreaker we accompany Ford and Eva on their journey back together; after 10 years of living separate lives. Ford and Eva were college sweethearts, however went their separate ways after graduation. Fast forward 10 years and they find themselves back in their hometown and the dormant feelings resurface as they see each other frequently in their friends and family circle. Many things happened in 10 years - Ford is now a single parent, widower, with a 4 year old daughter and Eva has build a career as successful pit-master and food blogger. There are many competing priorities as they try to reconnect, self doubts, punishing deadlines and vulnerabilities to overcome. Will they be able to slow down enough to find their way back to each other? Ford is my favorite Charleston Heat hero so far. His dedication to his little girl, his steadfast leadership in his venture capital firm and the way he bares his soul to the woman he loves...swoon!!!
The narration by Joe Arden and Emma Wilder is perfection.
If you like your romance on the steamy side, you will not want to miss Southern Heartbreaker!

Gah! This book pulls at my heartstrings immediately! Like I can just feel what Eva is going through!
I adore all of Jessica’s books, and the audiobook of this one just brought it roaring back to the front...it was incredible! Good lord, it was everything!
I had butterflies when Eva first bumps into Ford again! The way Joe and Emma bring their chemistry to life is everything! They play off each other so well, I can’t even with how much I love it! These two are my absolute favorites and I’m sad this wonderful series is now over! Everyone should get these audiobooks...the best series out there!

Sweet and steamy southern romance
I loved this second chance romance from Jessica Peterson. This audiobook was wonderfully narrated by Joe Arden and Emma Wilder!
Years after a devastating breakup, Ford and Eva are reunited. Ford, now a widower and single father to his 4 year old daughter, knows Eva is everything he needs, but she is hesitant to begin again after she was so hurt and heartbroken in the past. I loved their journey to find love and to find a balance between work, home, family, and personal ambitions. If you love your southern romance with a sweet story, plenty of steam, and an on-point narration, you will love Southern Heartbreaker!
Huge thanks to the author and Valentine PR for the audiobook! This was my first read from Jessica Peterson and I really loved it! It is a standalone in a series and I was able to enjoy it fully as it’s own story.

Single hot dad! YES!!!
Ford and Eva's story is a great second chance love story! Ford has grown so much since he was the college guy that dropped Eva for a bad reason. He was endearing as this single father who had been through so much and was ready to give a relationship a shot even though he didn't have any time for one. Eva comes back to town and a relationship is the last thing on her list. These two has some HOT scenes! WOW! They literally melted the pages. The narrators did a great job with that. I would have died reading that LOL. Ford's daughter always stole the show and I loved how Eva fell in love with her as well as with Ford. Another good story in this series.
The narrators did a fantastic job with the story. There were some really hot scenes in here! They brought every detail to live. Great job!

Fun, Emotional, and Sizzling Romance!
I love second chance romance and when you add in a sexy single dad, I can't resist! This fourth book in the Charleston Heat series is Eva Lacy and Ford Montgomery's fun, emotional and steamy romance.
Eva and Ford were college sweethearts until Ford blindsided her and broke her heart on graduation day. Now years later, they are both successful, and back in the same city. Eva is a pit master/chef with a successful Blog, and a best selling cookbook. She has writers block for her next cookbook, so she moves back home to hopefully find some inspiration. She unexpectantly runs into the one man she has worked hard to forget. Ford Montgomery is a successful venture capitalist and a widowed father of an adorable little girl, Bryce. He has only gotten better with age, and how sweet he is with his daughter, makes it impossible for her to resist him. Eva is the one that got away for Ford, and he has regretted his rash action ever since. Now Eva is back in his life and he is determined to prove he is a better man and they are meant for each other. But Eva has hopes and dreams and isn't sure being a mom fits in with those plans. I thought Eva and Ford were so perfect together. They both worked hard, were close to their families, and their chemistry was explosive.
I loved the narration by Joe Arden, and Emma Wilder. They really brought out the push/pull between both Ford and Eva and allowed us to experience their vulnerabilities and growth, and their sexual tension was palpable! I really enjoyed this fun, emotional and sizzling romance!

I loved every second of Southern Heartbreaker!
I loved every second of Southern Heartbreaker, the fourth book in the Charleston Heat series. This second chance and single dad romance would read wonderfully as a standalone, although characters from previous books in the series do appear and certainly are fantastic enough on their own for everyone to go back and read the rest of the series.
One of my favorite things about this series is how food-centric it is- I love the connection the characters have to food and Jessica Peterson is masterful in her dish descriptions and makes me so hungry!
Eva is a bad-ass BBQ pit master looking for inspiration for her next (overdue!) cookbook. Reconnecting with college love Ford gives her that and more. Ford is not only drop dead gorgeous and the one Eva never got over, he's also a pretty darn perfect single dad. Their chemistry is as hot as they remember from college.
I related so much with Eva and her struggle to find a balance between career and personal life. It's a real struggle most women today face. Jessica Peterson handled the issue with grace and wisdom and her ability to write internal monologues is just another one of her many talents.
Joe Arden and Emma Wilder were fantastic, as always. They are true pros and such a joy to listen to.

I really don't want this series to be over
This is the series where I found this author and I've really enjoyed each and every book. This is a really cute single dad second chance romance. Ford and Eva dove right back in when they were brought back together, and I loved how Eva stuck to her guns, yet found a way fit Ford and Bryce into her busy life. I really hope this series isn't over because not hearing Joe Arden's southern drawl really would be a crime. I volunteered to listen and review a complimentary copy of this. All opinions are my own.

Amazing addition to the series!
Single dad romances are a favorite of mine, so when given the chance, I love to listen! This is my first book by Jessica Peterson, and it definitely will not be my last! A story of second chances and parenting, strong family ties and learning the balance of all that comes with it. Ford and Emma were together in college and when they graduated, Ford decided they should split. Now ten years later, the two meet again at a baby shower. The two have intense chemistry, and seem to almost pick things up where they left off. But a broken heart is not something easily forgotten, and when Eva sees Ford with his little girl, there needs to be some serious consideration for this goal oriented woman. Will they find a happy medium? So much fun, this listen brings out realistic views of life. There are so many things to consider and I love how Peterson takes a look at it from all sides. It's book #4 in the Charleston Heat series, and though I can tell there is crossover characters from the previous books, it completely stands alone, letting us enjoy just Ford and Eva. And Brice steals the show, with her 4 year old innocence and bubbly personality. I loved this story and can't wait to go back and catch up on the others in the series.
Emma Wilder and Joe Arden are fantastic as always. Using their southern accents to bring this to life just makes it all the more authentic. And Wilder's voice for Brice is amazing! You would think it's really a little girl! This is a fun listen you don't want to miss!

Second Chances. Great Narration
I loved everything about this book, of course it didn't hurt that the narration was super awesome, but the story was great to.
It's the first book I listen or read by this author and I really enjoy it. The story is entertaining, fast paced, not drama, funny and really easy to listen.
The characters are quite likeable, I loved Ford and Eva. I liked how they both changed over the years and how Ford is more mature and really helped Eva figured somethings out. The advice he gives her about her mum, really hit home and left me thinking (THANKS for that Jessica Peterson).
I was happy that they got their second chance because they're perfect for each other.
The narration was perfect. Emma Wilder and Joe Arden were amazing, perfect for the characters in every single way.
