Now a student at Wurthaven, Will is confronted with the truth of the present. The powerful magic embodied by wizards like his grandfather is but a distant memory. Though the practice of the current day is timid and uninspired, Will needs the knowledge that’s preserved and managed by the college. At every turn he finds that sorcery is supreme, while wizards are trained merely to assist and support those who hold the real power - a power based on an evil so deep that few who are living know the truth of its foundation.

Mage Errant: Publisher's Pack contains books one and two of the Mage Errant series: Into the Labyrinth and Jewel of the Endless Erg. Hugh of Emblin is, so far as he's concerned, the worst student that the Academy at Skyhold has ever seen. He can barely cast any spells at all, and those he does cast tend to fail explosively.

The ancient magic of wizards was anything but dark. It was the enlightenment that lifted humanity from the squalor of superstition, and the worship of fell spirits and capricious gods, but those days are gone. The shining glory of the sorcerers burned away the subtlety of wisdom, replacing it with easy power, held only in the hands of the elite - a new age built upon the elemental supremacy of aristocrats and the ignorance of the masses.

Publisher's Summary
The fourth book in the compelling Spellslinger fantasy series.
Kellen and his murderous squirrel cat, Reichis, are on their own. They've heard rumour of a mythical monastery, known as the Ebony Abbey. It's a place that outsiders can never find - but Kellen is getting desperate. He's been told that the monks inside the Ebony Abbey know more about the Shadowblack than anyone else - and that they even know how to cure it.
Then Kellen and Reichis are separated and for the first time, Kellen must face the world alone - and venture deeper into shadow magic than he ever knew he could.
Perfect for fans of The Dark Tower, Firefly, Guardians of the Galaxy, Terry Pratchett, Ben Aaronovitch and Jim Butcher.

Can’t get enough
These books are simply great!! Brilliantly written, fantastically narrated and are so easy to listen too. For a book based almost solely on magic, it’s amazing how it doesn’t overpower the book... often an overpowered magic spell ruins books as it’s just a get out of jail free card, but the balance here is perfect. Finished just in time for the next book’s release date! :)

Very much enjoying spending my evening commute with these characters on there adventure. It has become the norm for me now; But now I have to wait for the next book to get published on audible. I can't wait! The main character...you grow to like him, and completely understand his pet's (*giggle*) sarcastic comments. Together they are a riot!

Devoured
I have devoured this series, it's just so thoroughly enjoyable. It may be one of the best I have ever read Easily checks off the trifecta for me: Dynamic characters Great world and magic system Exceptional pacing Surely at some point one of these books is going to bend and I'm going to lose interest... nah who am I kidding? Just gimmie more!
