Publisher's summary

When a cruel sorcerer appears in Tropolis, murdering and kidnapping its citizens, how far is private investigator JB Lucerne prepared to go to rid his city of this evildoer? And will that be far enough?

JB’s private-detective agency is successful, even if he can’t say the same for his love life, but when two elven princes turn up and demand he fulfill a blood bond by finding a missing princess, he has no choice but to take the case.

Heading up an alliance with others provoked by a vindictive sorcerer’s murderous deeds, JB tracks the princess to the blighted Wraithlands. The allies face exploding portals and monstrous shape-shifters, but can they rescue the kidnapped princess in time to prevent her death, which would release havoc on an unsuspecting world?

If you like gripping mysteries interwoven with generous doses of magic and humor, then you’ll love Teagan Kearney’s urban fantasy novella Sorcerous Deeds, the second title in the Adept Solutions series.

Fun Fantasy PI Mystery

I read the first book so I was looking forward to this one. I wasn't disappointed, it's a fun and interesting mix of genres with the PI mystery and all the fun fantasy characters... It has everything from demons, fairies, witches, sirens and more. This series has been a lot of fun. On a morality rating there is some language but otherwise was pretty clean. It is geared toward the teen to YA readers that are into fantasy and mysteries. I felt the narrator did a better job on this one then she did on the first book.

An Enjoyable Listen

After listening to book 1, I was hoping this one would be better and it was. I enjoyed hearing the continued adventures of JB and his crew. It was a bit longer than the first book and that is a good thing. I also enjoyed that you could listen to this one without having heard or read the first book in this series. The narrator still needs a bit of work when not voicing characters, she still comes across a bit flat but better than in book one. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and have recommended this series to my friends.

Sorcerous Deeds
Adept Solutions, Book 2
By: Teagan Kearney
Narrated by: Elisabeth Lagelee
This is an audible book I requested and the review is voluntary.
If you like vampires, elves, suspense, shape-shifting monsters, and great fantasy then this is for you. It is a small book and just right for a book before bed, when you get that brief time of quiet, or on the beach, or on the plane. I read book one but I think you could read this without reading book one but I think you would enjoy it more by reading book one first.
The narrator was good at performing several voices.

Urban Fantasy

Sorcerous Deeds is a well-written urban fantasy about a private investigator with supernatural powers who solves cases within a community of supernatural characters like vampires, werewolves, demons, fairies, elves, etc. It reminds me a of the HBO Series, “True Blood”, in that it has similar supernatural characters living and experiencing situations amidst one another.

The characters are introduced a few at a time, and we learn the details of their situations and supernatural abilities. At first, I had a hard time keeping track of all the characters, but soon I was able to keep track of everyone and follow the storyline without too much effort. The book was well-written, the storyline was coherent and the writing is full of powerful imagery.

I didn’t care much for the narrator-she sounded robotic at times, particularly with certain characters.

Overall, I found this to be an entertaining audiobook. It was an easy and fun listen for anyone craving a bit of harmless fantasy.

I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

Solid PI urban fantasy

Sorcerous Deeds is a solid urban fantasy, focused on a private investigator. He has supernatural powers and investigates supernatural mysteries. The story is good, focusing on a missing daughter who seems to be caught up in a 'romeo and juliet' type situation. There are some of the tropes of the PI genre here but nothing too generic. Not overly gripping, and no major twists and turns in the story, it's a good tale, well told.

A good entry into the genre.

Sorcerous Deeds is the second book in the series, but can be read without any knowledge of the first book (which is how I came to it). The abilities of the characters are explained, and enough background information is given out, without being there just for exposition, to ensure that the relationships between characters are well established. The story is also tied up in this, so it standalone. You don't have to get the books before or after... although I'm sure the author would like you to.

Narration by Elisabeth Lagelee is good. Well paced, easy to follow. she does enough character work to keep everything clean and clear.

Kidnapping, Mystery, Action, and More

J.B. and Jemma are hit with yet another mystery when two Elven Princes show up at this office. J.B. finds out that an Elven Princess has been kidnapped who has been promised in marriage to unite the kingdoms. Jemma's brother gets involved with a succubus and almost loses his life. Many twists and turns that lead to adventure after adventure! A very good listen to.

COOL PI/URBAN/PARANORMAL FANTASY

This is the first in the series, and by author and narrator, that I've listened to, and it was awesome! There's all kinds of crazy characters, some good and some bad. This sorta reminds me of the show Angel (Buffy spinoff), which I loved! Love the PI/paranormal combo, think it works well. Endless possibilities. Thought the book was well-written and enjoyed the narration also, think it's definitely worth the read/listen/credit!

Good Story

I got this ARC via audiobook boom nd this is my voluntary review. This is book 2 of the series but you are able to understand the concept and know that there is another book coming. There are no cliffhangers. Surprise that an author can write a series and not have those. The story involved incidents from the first book which I had not listened to but could tell that is where they came from and still enjoy this story. This agency is filled with other world creatures and humans working together to solve crimes or apprehend villains. Loved the dynamics between the characters and the secondary characters really made the story. The humor was done very well. The narration was great and kept the suspense and story moving along well. All in all a very good story. Would love to listen to book 1 and am waiting on book 3.

A Dream Detective Team

I was given a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this fantasy story of intrigue and revenge. Magical and mystical characters form to rescue a kidnapped victim of a highly elusive mage. I look forward to reading more from this author. The narrators performance was great.
