Ms. Morrison has done it again. she has made me fall in love with a story only to leave me breathless at the end.

Toni Morrison has an incredible way of telling layers of stories within one text. She takes the reader from the North, to the roots of the South, then sets them free to fly in the end.

BEST BOOK EVER

I honestly loved this book so much and the narrator just completed the experience. I recommend this book to anyone it is so hard for me to read books but listening to the audio while I followed along really helped with thats. This book is marvelous and please read till the end it’s just altogether perfect.

One of the most meaningfully beautiful songs ever

Deep and soulful poetry, as powerful as any Odissey, as reverent in examining the seeming carelesneess of a cuss a rape or a murder, this story reminds us of the value of a name, a lineage and belonging, for a people who were bereft of all human dignity for generations, and never lost it. How magnificently can a rhyme and a chldren's game shine, to reinstate true Value, where a man's awakening to the consequence of his choices is likened to flying, truly flying... Toni Morrison caresses our senses with her beautiful reading. I am stunned.

My first introduction into Toni Morrison’s work. It did not disappoint, or hold back on its content. I would like to argue that milkman isn’t the protagonist of the story, but it appears that has already been critically discussed. It knocked me on my ass how little progress we have made in racial equality since this storyline. There’s a lot to be sad about, but there’s also quite a bit of beauty in the story as well. Quite the cliffhanger...

I’m anything Toni Morrison

I read this book years ago and found a love for Madame Morrison’s use of words. It was like reading poetry and I was in awe. This book is at the top of my list of favorites of hers and I enjoyed listening to and reliving the story of Milkman and his family.

The only negative I’d give this is that it was hard to follow her at times because her voice is so raspy. I had to rewind the recording a few times to catch what she said.

I still gave it 5 stars ‘cause come on, it’s Toni Morrison.

A book that should be required reading by everyone.

Toni Morrison brings her gorgeous and heart wrenching tale of a family’s history to life with her measured and sonorous voice. You will hang on every word as if each one has equal importance. Love, heartbreak, song, blood, bones, death, life and the lifting of the tired body to soar above the fields. Do not skip over this triumph of storytelling.
