Publisher's summary

It's never too late to fall in love in this enchanting new novella in the Westcott series from New York Times best-selling author Mary Balogh.

Matilda Westcott has spent her life tending to the needs of her mother, the Dowager Countess of Riverdale, never questioning the life of solitude she has spun for herself. To Matilda, who considers herself the aging spinster daughter, marriage is laughable - love is a game for the young, after all. But her modest, quiet life of order unravels when a dashing gentleman from her past reappears, threatening to charm his way into her heart yet again.

Charles Sawyer, Viscount Dirkson, does not expect to see Matilda Westcott 36 years after their failed romance. Moreover, he does not expect decades-old feelings to emerge at the very sight of her. When encountering Matilda at a dinner hosted by the Earl of Riverdale, he finds himself as fascinated by her as he was the first day they met, and wonders if, after all these years, they have a chance at happiness together. Charles is determined to crack the hard exterior Matilda has built for over three decades or risk losing her once again....

Sweet, but a little out of character- previous episodes barely hint at this side of Matilda.

Nice continuation of the Westcott series, but no suspense and totally chaste. Was curious how she would deal with the wedding night of a 55+ couple but it’s left to the imagination.

A sweet story

Sad and sweet. Narration great as usual and doesn’t detract from the flow. Such a long time to wait for a HEA, but that’s how it had to be for the HEA.

A Regency Second Chance Romance not to be missed

“Someone to Remember” by Mary Balough
A Regency second chance romance not to be missed. It is the 7th story in the Westcott series. I do recommend reading all the stories in the order written. Mostly so the reader will get the complete preceding history which will allow a deeper understanding of this story. This can be read as a stand-alone. This story may not resonate with the younger set… but it is well worth the read, as is this whole series.
I read the audio book that I purchased via Audible. I think it is time for me to go back to Book 1 of this series and relive this family’s stories.

Great with Exceptions

Mary Balogh is one of my fav romance writers. Her characters are usually well drawn, intricate and interesting. This book is no exception. And I was delighted to see her taking on older characters! But for the first time, part way in, I nearly threw a Balogh book. I became frustrated when our heroine simply would not believe that the hero loved her--kept turning him down--determined to continue life as a dried up unloved spinster.(Right?). Soon frustration turned to irritation. The potential sacrifice of the heroine's happiness came off as somewhat contrived. However, later I got back into great Balogh reading. In the end the author pulls it off and finishes very well.

Perfect duo

Once again, Mary Balogh's story telling gift and Rosalyn Landor's gifted voice combine to take you away to experience life with the Westcotts. 🌷
