Publisher's summary

This rich selection of the Buddha’s teaching, taken from the Pali canon, remains one of the finest of the classic Buddhist anthologies in English.

F. L. Woodward, a key translator of the first half of the 20th century was a committed Buddhist as well as a scholar, and in Some Sayings of the Buddha, he created a handbook for succeeding generations, incorporating the main elements of the Buddha’s life, views and recommendations.

For this recording - incorporating more than 200 key extracts - the translation has been revised to bring the terminology up to date for the contemporary listener.

Requires good concentration

Should be listened to more than once. The teachings are too expansive to absorb in just a once or even twice go-around.

The Dhamma, the pure, untainted words of the Buddha

Spoken in a clear, no-nonsense form that most anyone can understand. Understanding brings wisdom. Together with wisdom, virtue and concentration made with the necessary effort and earnestness lead to thehe unconditioned state.
