Enjoyable listen

I've read or listened to just about all of Suzanne Brockmann's books (multiple times), and I've been looking forward to this one for a long time. While I missed Melanie Ewbank's narration, Bahni Turpin did a great job. Patrick Lawlor was fabulous, as usual. I actually listened to the entire thing today, not getting much else done. This book has everything I love about SB's books. The new characters are a solid addition to the 'family'. I'm ready for the next book! :-)

Suzanne Brockmann Delivers again.

In a story of adventure and romance. Brockmann take us thru the lives of a Navy seal his runaway daughter, the talented and sexy neighbor and a ruthless drug dealer.
The story is riveting,. A father who doesn't know his daughter. A daughter who dosent want to be known. Her supposed friend who frames her with a dealer, and a boy trying to help her. Enjoy!

Loved it!

Loved Shay and Pete’s story. I usually hate it when hero and heroine fall in love in a very short time span, but here it worked! I would have preferred if « team-up » with daughter happened ( I was figuring this was where it would go, so I had to adjust and let go), but still very good fun. It’s about time there is as more diversity in romance novels! Yay! Little neg:
Mr.Lawlor’s gravelly voice was good, but it is so unique he cannot easily transform it to fit each character. I had to go back and re-listen a few times because I didn’t know who was speaking anymore. (Although this was exacerbated because I always like to listen while doing something else, and was not so bad that it would make me stop the book.)

great storyline

I absolutely loved this book. I have always enjoyed reading every book in this series.

I loved this book. as always, Suzanne has such great characters, and I love seeing more of Boat Squad John. not to mention my favorite, Izzy. Patrick Lawlor seals the deal for me in these books, ( and I love Melanie too )but Bahni is amazing here as well. coming back to these well-loved characters again during quarantine was such a joy, it brought tears to my eyes. It's a bit of relief from the current stress. thank you!

Brockmann Delivers - Again

Signature Brockmann: wit, wisdom, humor, suspense, romance, engagingly imperfect characters, believable storylines, consistency in world-building from book to book... How about I just say Brockmann delivers it all? Workable as a stand-alone book, but so much richer if you've read the connected books, starting with The Unsung Hero. Lucky me when I picked up that first paperback years ago- they just keep getting better. Lawlor is THE male voice for Brockmann's novels and, while I miss Melanie Ewbank, Turpin is the voice of Shayla. You can totally visualize her. Highly recommend all Brockmann, even the early romances being rereleased. One caveat: if you have anything against military men or Navy Seals, then her books are not for you.

this was an amazing book. the switching back and forth from male to female voices enhanced experience.

One of my favorites

This is one of my favorites out of the troubleshooter series. Very well done. The readers did very well also.

Fabulous Romantic Firework & Plenty of Action

I love Brockmann's Troubleshooters series.

Peter Greene (Grunge), a BUDs instructor associated with Seal Team 6, recently became the guardian of his daughter, Maddie, whose mother died in a car accident. He hasn't seen Maddie since she was a baby, and she doesn't want to get to know him now. Moreover, Maddie's in a new school and picks the wrong friend. Fiona gets $10,000 from a drug dealer and tells him Maddie has it. Now Fiona's in the wind and Maddie is in deep trouble.(One string that's left hanging is Fiona likely secretly filmed Maddie in the shower and Maddie is likely inadvertantly starring in internet porn.) Maddie and older Dingo, an American with a fake Aussie accent, embark on a quest to track down Fiona to get the money. They are on the run, both from the drug dealer and Maddie's Dad.

When Maddie disappears, Peter goes looking. His neighbor Shayla see him stranded on a highway and -- recognizing he's her across-the-street neighbor -- rescues him, not expecting a, "Follow that car!" chase -- Peter believes he's seen Maddie in it. Shayla becomes Peter's spirit guide in exercising some muscles he's let go for a long time -- caring, getting involved, cooperating instead of ordering. Shayla humanizes Grunge -- who is already a forthright, exemplary human being. a great listener, and -- did I mention -- Greek god who's hot for days.

Shayla is a spectacular find for Peter. She's a writer of romances, and she adapts like quicksilver to any situation. She devises a way to communicate with Maddie -- who's turned her phone off -- by writing up the story of Peter's time with Maddie's mother, explaining how they got together and ultimately split apart.

Shayla's only failing occurs when someone breaks into Peter's house (and likely is still there). He tells her to go outside and call the police, which she should do IMMEDIATELY, but she does not so they're surprised by one of the perps. Even as Peter tangles with him, otherwise quick-witted Shayla lingers, and she ends up overpowered by a second assailant.

I love this book. I find I love all the books with Izzy Zanella in them. He makes me laugh.

Perfect Mix of Romance & Suspense

Would you consider the audio edition of Some Kind of Hero to be better than the print version?

I'm bias because I'm a fan of audible, which is not to say that I don't like print because I do I'm a huge print fan, but listening on audible is probably at an addiction level for me now.,,but in a good way.

What does Bahni Turpin and Patrick Lawlor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I absolutely love Patrick Lawlor's voice. He brings just the perfect inflection, tone and cadence that makes the story come to life. Listening to Lawlor is like watching a movie...the sensory take is the same for me.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This story made me smile and filled me with warmth, satisfied the way you feel after eating your favorite chocolate chip cookie.

I highly recommend this book, it's definitely meets the high bar Suzanne Brockman has set with all her other books.
