Publisher's summary

When Hollywood invades Savannah's historic district to film a Revolutionary War movie, magical baker Katie Lightfoot and her witches' coven, the Spellbook Club, take a break from casting spells for casting calls. One of the witches snags a part as an extra, while Katie's firefighter boyfriend, Declan, acts as on-set security. Katie and her Aunt Lucy decide to stay out of the action, but after the movie's "fixer" fires the caterer, the Honeybee Bakery comes to the rescue, working their magic to keep the hungry crew happy. But when someone fixes the fixer - permanently - and a spooky psychic predicts Katie will find the killer, the charming baker and her fellow conjurers step in to sift through the suspects - before someone else winds up on the cutting room floor.

Angry and Annoyed

I enjoy this series for what it is: a light cozy mystery with recipes. However, the recipes are not included in this version. I had to buy the Kindle version after I already bought the audiobook version. I was very upset. However, the book was good and I enjoyed reading about Katie and her friends solving another murder while creating delicious treats.

Get a different Narrator Please!

Would you listen to Some Enchanted Eclair again? Why?

Read yes! Listen, No! Amy Rubinate is too breathy and colorless, the main character Katie Lightfoot and the psychic sound exactly the same! They had a conversation that I could not keep up with who was saying what. Ms. Rubinate's other female characters are ok when they have a strong accent, she can do it, although rather they come across rather dull. But worst of all I could have sworn there was only one man in the book, they all sounded the same! All gruff, no distinctive difference.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Some Enchanted Eclair?

I do not want to give the plot away, but again, another great story!

How could the performance have been better?

Give distinction to her male voices, and be less "breathy and dull".

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Read, yes, listen to No! I had to listen a few minutes then put it down because her voice was so anoying!

Any additional comments?

Am I the only one who finds this woman's voice anoying? I like these books and I would like to recomend them to friends but I would not recomend with this Narrator!

Good story

I've read all of the books prior to this & enjoyed them- the story was good, I didn't care for the narrator. There was a weird affect to her voice as just the normal narrator that I found annoying.

Listening to this audiobook was a pleasant mental break from ordinary responsibilities, a fun staycation. I recommend it highly!

Just a unorginal copy of all the best

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Magic fanatics

Would you ever listen to anything by Bailey Cates again?

Probably no

What didn’t you like about Amy Rubinate’s performance?

bad voice acting

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

no

Any additional comments?

This book was a copy of all the best mystery cozy themes. If you combine magic and cooking with a mystery it's a hit right? Well only if your the first to do it. This was just an unorginal copy of what other successful authors have done.

I want more in the series

I want more in the series. It is just plain old fun to read and very light hearted despite the witches or maybe because of them. Good mystery series.

Really impressed with this series

Finally, a mystery series that actually references the previous books! It always drives me crazy when the protagonists keep finding dead bodies and it never affects them, or seems odd. Not here. Katy's reactions are reasonable, and the frequency is actually given a plot reason.

It's also refreshing, as a southerner myself, to see a book set in the south that isn't populated by stereotypes and voiced with ridiculous accents.

This book is a fun time. If you're new to the series, you'll be just as fine starting with book 1 or here.
