Publisher's summary

Southern society is arranged along matriarchal lines, since the Southern matriarch is a far more formidable being than the much nicer Southern male. She has to be this way; she was put on earth with a sacred mission: to drum good manners and the proper religion---ancestor worship---into the next generation.

In Some Day You'll Thank Me for This, Gayden Metcalfe and Charlotte Hays, the best-selling authors of Being Dead Is No Excuse and Somebody Is Going to Die If Lilly Beth Doesn't Catch That Bouquet, deliver up a hilarious treatise---complete with appropriate recipes from those finicky, demanding moms---on the joys, trials, and tribulations of being the daughter of a Southern mother. Including such chapters as "A Crown in Heaven---The Southern Mother's Ultimate Passive-Aggressive Fashion Accoutrement," "Grande Dames and Other Mothers," and "Grandmothers: Why Precious Angel Baby Grandchildren Are So Much More Fun Than Granny's Own Bad Children," this is the perfect gift for any Southern mother---or the daughter of one.

A glimpse into psychology of daughters of Southern mothers

This book hit the nail on the head. As a DOSM, I have always wondered at the bizarre mother dynamic in my family. I laughed until I was unable to breathe as I recognized the age-old lessons I learned -- don't say panties, say underwear; don't say stink, say smells bad; don't say belly, say tummy; write your thank-you notes in black ink on custom stationery, etc. I never learned to cook, so the recipes weren't that relevant to me, but I didn't want the tales to end. More! More on DOSMs!!!!!!!

Cute but not what I expected.

I wish there were more reviews than just ratings when I purchased this... some humor was good but very repetitive and a lot of recipes. The recipes sound great but too much of the audio book was full of them and it really should have been an accompanying PDF for those who purchased the audiobook instead. Overall, I could have lived without listening to this. (And kind of bummed there’s no way to get the recipes that I’m aware of.)

loved this book

I loved this book! I wish I would have bought it and not listen to it. Too many recipes, I would have enjoyed having them to read and make.
