Story
Up to 40% of people consider themselves shy. You might say you're introverted or awkward, or that you're fine around friends but just can't speak up in a meeting or at a party. Maybe you're usually confident but have recently moved or started a new job, only to feel isolated and unsure. If you get nervous in social situations - meeting your partner's friends, public speaking, standing awkwardly in the elevator with your boss - you've probably been told, "Just be yourself!" But that's easier said than done - especially if you're prone to social anxiety.

When we read stories about our heroes who achieved their dreams in face of many challenges, we are often struck with awe, and we think to ourselves: "Sure, they can do it, but I’m not that strong!" The truth is, we are all made of flesh, blood, and dreams, and we all have the same intrinsic power to reach for our goals and actually achieve them. So, what makes those people different than us? On an average, people tend to give up on their goals when they face difficulties.

REALLY WORTH READING!!!
Any additional comments?
Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result. Over and over I tried ignoring my anxiety and yelling at myself, but things weren't changing. Reading this book was something new for me and was well worth it. I was really surprised at how many times the book mentioned very specific thought patterns that were the exact same as my own. I think the book is written well and organized well and I feel like I have tools now to better recognize my anxiety and overcome it. This book is exactly what I needed.

Helping me a lot
Any additional comments?
So far, so good. 1 week since i have had this book and i am seeing a marked improvement in my shyness and anxiety issues in social situations. Last night i even managed to go to a birthday party in a bar, where i had to arrive alone and great everyone and then make small chat all night to people i did and did not know. This may seem simple to a lot of people, but until last week this was very very tough for me.
I am hoping the advice I have got so far will last!

There are not enough words to describe the book
Getting along and conversing with people has always been a difficult thing for me to achieve. I can say it wasn't my fault, I just wasn't brought up with much interaction with the outside world.
I have read lots of books and listened to lots of teachers talk about how to get over shyness but none worked.
My buying of this audiobook was the last hurrah and I am glad I actually bought it.
The first time I listened to the speaker talk, I was just struck and I knew I have gotten the solution to my problem.
It was a gradual progress but I have gotten over the paranoid attitude that has prevented me from making friends and getting along with people
I no longer have the belief that everybody is out to get me and hurt me
Thank you so much, Jenifer, for the wisdom in writing this masterpiece. You are a blessing to me and I will forever be grateful
This book is what you need to get over public speaking anxiety and shyness.

Proven and easy solutions towards social anxiety
What was one of the most memorable moments of Social Anxiety?
The case studies make this audible to be very real and believable. A listener may opt for suggestion to a solution that at one time helped a victim rather than just generic suggestions.
What did you learn from Social Anxiety that you would use in your daily life?
I received awesome advice from a profession who made me realize the causes and consequences of my anxiety. Through the audible I got my way out.
Any additional comments?
Unlike many other books, the Social Anxiety audible provides a clear way towards the liberation from social anxiety. Many people panic and sweat. Their thoughts start racing with an increased heart rate. This leads to mind being blank and they become speechless. Many issues surrounding this problem have been highlighted and their possible mitigation have been explained.

Your New Best Friend
Would you listen to Social Anxiety again? Why?
Absolutely! This book was a huge help for me, and I know many friends who would also benefit from what Dr. Alison shares. I want to know this book inside out so I too can offer the help that is sorely needed, and guide others through the same process of self-knowledge and acceptance.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Social Anxiety?
I loved how from the very start Dr. Alison refers to social anxiety as an actual health issue that takes medical care to overcome. She's the first person to call out the 'it's only in your head' saying as false and extremely harmful to someone who is dealing with this illness. To hear that acknowledged out loud was very refreshing.
What does Rebekah Amber Clark bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Her voice is soothing, and that's very important with such a topic. To listen to her is calming, and one eventually feels at ease, as if talking to a friend. Generating that sort of comfort is crucial for someone to start working on their healing.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
"Pain is no more"
Any additional comments?
I hope this book finds all the people it needs to help. I will surely put it out there, recommend it online and to my friends. It has the potential to save someone's life and that must not be underestimated.

A Thourough and Comprehensive Guide to Empowerment
I can't rate this book enough. It's helped me overcome my social anxiety in ways even counsellors haven't been able to in the past. It provides helpful tools and tips on how to take back control in your life and overcome your anxiety by letting you know where it stems from by delving into the psychology of social anxiety.
It helped me to realise that I'm not alone in what I suffer, and just how prevalent social anxiety is in our modern society.
This book has given me the confidence to start again in a life unhindered by my anxiety which has previously left me unable to work, and struggling with self esteem issues. I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone suffering from any kind of anxiety! It follows a great pace which allows you to effectively combat your issues.

A Complete Life Changer
What made the experience of listening to Social Anxiety the most enjoyable?
Listening to this book honestly changed the way I think about social anxiety completely. It covers all the bases - everything from protecting yourself online to coping with and preventing panic attacks - but there's something about it that's just different from other audio books on this subject. The tone of the book is comforting and conversational. You really feel like the writer is on your side, propelling you forward. Rarely have I experienced anything like that with another author.
What did you like best about this story?
This book really offers a fresh and current take on social anxiety. It's really engaging and insightful. Unlike other books of its kind which can be boring and repetitive, this book offers new approaches and a better understanding of social anxiety.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Absolutely. I'm not the type of person that's crippled with social anxiety. I can go out with my friends and pretend I'm okay most of the time. But I've always felt apprehensive about socialising and I've had more than a few panic attacks in my life. One thing that really stood out for me (and did make me tear up) were the case studies. In this book, there are accounts of other people who have struggled with, and overcome, their social anxiety. I found them all very moving and motivating.
Any additional comments?
If you have social anxiety to any degree, I really think this book will be a great help. It's a masterpiece in this field and I honestly think it will be the best book of its kind for years to come. Highly recommend!

Would you listen to Social Anxiety again? Why?
The whole book was much better than i expected as for once a book in this genre actually felt realistic, and was clearly written by someone who really understand how it FEELS to be socially anxious and/or shy. I am finding this an incredibly helpful book and Im already on my 3rd listen of it.
Any additional comments?

A new start
Any additional comments?
A new start in my life - that is the best way I can describe what this book has given me. Superbly written, well produced and narrated. If you want to hear endless medical stuff then this is not the book for you. If you want to actually get better and learn how to, then i very very much recommend you try this.

Incredible book, really helped me
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
YES. If they were suffering from social anxiety or shyness (as I have for much of my life) then I would 100% recommend this book.
Who was your favorite character and why?
??
Which character – as performed by Rebekah Amber Clark – was your favourite?
?? It was not that sort of book.
Any additional comments?
I find a lot of books in this genre to either be far too medical or just to be full of endless tests. This book was, thankfully, different. It was practical. It contained information, advice and tips that I could implement in my own life.
It felt realistic. And most importantly, at least 80% of what it has recommended has worked within a week. I feel so much better already and last night I was able to strike up a conversation with a complete stranger, something i would have found very difficult in the past.
Very grateful for this book and i highly recommend it!

Immediately useful and concise
Immediately useful, this author-narrated book has a great selection of tools that someone suffering from social anxiety can realistically put to use right away. I would recommend this to anyone who experiences social anxiety. The author seems to be down to earth and intimately familiar with the subject.

I learnt so much for this.
Any additional comments?
I learnt so much for this book, helping me to finally deal with some quite deep-rooted issues with social situations and the anxiety i had about these things. Its not been an overnight cure but a gradual process over the past few weeks which have made tackling these issues and social situations so so much easier.

Much more than i expected...
Any additional comments?
I was a little dubious about this as i have tried various books like this with no real results but i took a chance after a recommendation and i am so very very glad I did.
It actually made sense, which is rare! It was easy to follow, direct and unique. A different twist on the usual advice. I am so much better and its only a few days since i got it.

Self esteem
The book is about social anxiety but in my opinion, ultimately it comes down to self esteem. And this book did a very good job at raising mine and showing me how to keep it sustainable, even through bad times.

Changed my life and several friends
I originally came to this book, on print, thru an online support group. It was enormously helpful so when I saw it on audible I jumped at the chance to get it. As good as the print version is, the audible version is ten times better. Everything makes so much more sense when it is being narrated. I have recommended this book to many many people and 99% of them have also found this to be enormously beneficial.
Social anxiety is a horrible thing but do NOT give up. Help and assistance is available.
Start with this book. You will not regret it.
