Absolutely incredible, I feel so much better!

Would you consider the audio edition of Social Anxiety to be better than the print version?

I really like the audio version - The print version was more convenient to flick through at ease but the audiobook is much better in general as it's more discreet and less embarrassing to listen to in public as there's no cover to advertise what I'm listening to!

What did you like best about this story?

The author has done an incredible job in general by way of explaining anxiety, its causes and how to deal with it. She mentions a number of different situations in which you might feel anxious, and how to adapt to dealing with it in the most appropriate way possible. It's simple and easy to listen to, and helped me massively.

Which scene was your favorite?

There are no scenes per se, but I really loved the chapters where the author went through various situations where anxiety is experience and detailed how to cope with it in such situations.

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

The fact that I used to be an anxious person and that I've now managed to overcome it thanks to this. One thing that's stuck with me is the negative impact excessive social media can have on our self esteem and make us feel bad about ourselves. On top of this, we consider it to be "social interaction" but a life in front of a screen actually has no interaction whatsoever, and the only way to learn how to cope with social anxiety is to be in real life scenarios rather than behind a screen.

I also especially like the idea of adapting yourself to deal with various situations.

Any additional comments?

I 100% recommend this book to anyone struggling with social anxiety - It helped me a ton and I wouldn't be the same without it so go out and get it now!

Say goodbye to shyness!!

What did you learn from Social Anxiety that you would use in your daily life?

‘Social Anxiety: Overcome social anxiety and shyness forever’ is another gem of a book by Jennifer Alison. The book deals social anxiety in a different light. It begins with introducing the reader to social anxiety itself. Most people who haven’t gone through social anxiety seldom understand it. The book makes a pretty good case and tries to familiarize the readers with the intensity yet solvability of the issue. And the best part is that it does so in a natural flow without becoming overly instructive. Instead the author makes her point through the use of numerous anecdotes and practical steps that can be taken.

As someone who has been struggling with social anxiety for a while, I felt I could relate to a lot of things in the book and have actually started implementing some of the steps. Change doesn’t happen overnight but I have started feeling a bit more confident. I still cringe in many social situations but things are starting to look up. I think the one thing that really hit home was dealing with social media. How not to feel like everyone else is much better off than me. How to turn of facebook for a while. We don’t need to be connected all the time.

Any additional comments?

Perhaps one of the best thing about the book is that it is good for almost everyone. Even the most social of butterflies can learn a thing or two from here.

Your New Best Friend

Would you listen to Social Anxiety again? Why?

Absolutely! This book was a huge help for me, and I know many friends who would also benefit from what Dr. Alison shares. I want to know this book inside out so I too can offer the help that is sorely needed, and guide others through the same process of self-knowledge and acceptance.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Social Anxiety?

I loved how from the very start Dr. Alison refers to social anxiety as an actual health issue that takes medical care to overcome. She's the first person to call out the 'it's only in your head' saying as false and extremely harmful to someone who is dealing with this illness. To hear that acknowledged out loud was very refreshing.

What does Rebekah Amber Clark bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voice is soothing, and that's very important with such a topic. To listen to her is calming, and one eventually feels at ease, as if talking to a friend. Generating that sort of comfort is crucial for someone to start working on their healing.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

"Pain is no more"

Any additional comments?

I hope this book finds all the people it needs to help. I will surely put it out there, recommend it online and to my friends. It has the potential to save someone's life and that must not be underestimated.

WHY THIS IS A GREAT BOOK TO START BEATING ANXIETY

Any additional comments?

I suffer with terrible anxiety, it is destroying my life. I have read many books on the subject, be it Mindfulness - which I highly recommend the book The Confidence Gap - also books on PTSD, GDA, CBT etc. Although this book does not have many reviews, at the time of writing this, it is the book for you to start you on the path to help beat your crippling disability.

It is very easy to follow & does wonderful job of covering only the most important elements of how to deal with your ailment. You can be cured, & yes you can do it yourself. If you are only now looking for help & want a book that is not over complicated & really does get directly to the root of the causes of anxiety, & you want practical tips & exercises to help your overcome it, then start here. It really is a superb book. It quite simple explains why you have it, what your mind is actually doing & how you can start to beat it with simple exercises. I also wish you the very best of luck, & know you are far from being alone.
