Publisher's summary

The civilization of the Alectors - which has farmed and developed all life on Corus to produce sustaining life force for their vampiric civilization - must move wholesale from one planet to another every few thousand years as it exhausts the life force of another world. This time two worlds have been prepared, and the time is at hand for the great move. And Corus is the loser, to be abandoned by the civilizing forces of the government of Alectors but used as a dumping ground for malcontents and others who don't make the cut to move on to a richer new world. This bodes well neither for the future of human civilization nor for the honest Alectors such as Dainyl, who is trying to hold everything together as all systems are failing. But the mysterious Ancients, the Soarers, are a force to be reckoned with, and they may hold a powerful and destructive trump card.

Excellent Ending

Excellent Ending to this incredible series or trilogy I should say. Every question I had has been answered from the original trilogy.

Good conclusion to the story

Entertaining and well written prequel. Nicely tied into the original stories. Worth listening to. Typical Modessit .

irritating

i was more interested in mykels story rather than dainyls but sadly this book is mostly about dainyl. for every 3-4 chapters of dainyls story there was 1 chapter for mykel. i found it an irritating rather than satisfactory end to the trilogy. i never liked dainyl all that much so finding the main character i did like pushed aside in the final book didn't make me very happy.
now i am really hesitating about reading the rest of the series. it seems like the further along it goes the more its about politics and backbiting and less about people i can relate to. it kind of sucks because i really liked legacies and darknesses (though scepters dragged a little).
