Publisher's Summary

From where and how after a great storm had Snupsi once appeared on Juniper Island beach remains a mystery. Back then, the only object lying beside him was an old worn compass with a hovering hand under the hazy dome, pointing its finger towards the horizon.

What secrets and adventures does the other side of the horizon hide? Can Snupsi find out who his parents are from where he came from?

As it later appears, randomly looking adventures seem to have mysterious connections. Caring, understanding, bravery, and with help to overcome challenges, find new friends and reconcile conflicts.

Snupsi is a thrilling and humorous fantasy story that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike.

Snupsi was first published in 2015 and was nominated as one of the best children's books of the year. In 2018, Snupsi was translated into English and featured in the Baltic stand at the London Book Fair as one of the most outstanding children's books.

So, who is Snupsi? He is a curious and adventurous fellow, who lives on a tiny northern Juniper island. He is quite happy there, but from time to time, sorrow creeps in. At times, he finds himself sitting on the pier with that old peculiar compass, staring at the sea and wondering where the hovering hand under the dome could be pointing to.

When the island's brightest scientist Helden finishes his flying machine Escapist, Snupsi has finally the chance to explore the world beyond the island borders, and an unforgettable journey begins with his friends Patter, Tinken, Hiku, Nuff, and Helden.

Cute kids book

This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would listen to another. My son’s starting to get into audiobooks. I will be giving this one to him. The author very kindly sent me the book as well. I could look at the artwork while listening.

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Matthew Hall ) and I would love to listen to another. His narration is wonderful. He uses a broad variety of character voices and personalities. I imagine this will really help keep a young kids attention as well as fully entertain adults.

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Fantastic New Children's Book

My 9-year-old son helped me listen to this book because I wanted to get actual child feedback. He was a little hesitant because he thought it was for younger readers but he found that he was sucked into the story in the first chapter. Snupsi has been on Juniper Island for a few years as an orphan and has adventures with his friends on the Escapist (submarine and helicopter vehicle). He finds out more about his past when he runs into his grandparents and suddenly finds that he does have a family. The adventure goes on from there and the creativity throughout is refreshing. It's a family friendly book free of bad language, hidden adult content, and violence. The narrator was fun to listen to with his British accent and also did a great job with the character voices.

Imaginative, Creative, Wholesome, and Truly Wonderful!

WOW.
When I find precious gems like this, I want to buy a bunch of them for classroom libraries! I actually used to do that when my children were in elementary school.

Snupsi was a fantastical character with fun loving, diverse friends, exploring the world on a new flying invention.
Although his heritage is unknown at the beginning, he finds his family by chance (or fate?).

I loved how our orphan main character did not exhibit super hero skills or was prophesied to save the world. I loved the characters’ growth, humour, and appropriate intelligence through deduction of choices and outcomes. Or by happen chance.

This is a wonderful tale narrated by a marvelous voice actor. His tone and speed correlated to the emotions and events unfolding. I was captivated from the first word.

Highly recommended for young listeners. Adult listeners could enjoy this as well. No violence nor suggestive /questionable content.

This is my voluntary review of an audiobook received for free. During my listen, the author also gifted me the ebook with the most adorable illustrations! Hopefully, the illustrations can be added to the audiobook in the near future as an additional file downloaded with the purchase.

Listen to the book and add the book or ebook for an immeasurable added bonus!
