Publisher's Summary

For 12-year-old Peter Lundstrom, the Norwegian winter of 1940 begins like any other. When he isn’t in school, he spends the cold days outside, going sledding in the deep snow of his mountain village. But all around him, the adults are talking about the war that is raging through much of Europe. One day Uncle Victor warns that German soldiers will invade soon. He believes they will try to steal the bank’s gold bullion. But he has a daring plan to protect the treasure. The only trouble is - it relies on Peter and his friends. Will the village children be able to fool the suspicious Nazis?

Marie McSwigan’s exciting Snow Treasure is based on the tale a Norwegian ship captain told as he unloaded a cargo of gold in Baltimore. Though the children and the village were never identified, the story is thought to be true by many. Narrator John McDonough’s stirring performance captures the tension and adventure as Peter and his friends risk their lives to help their country.

Great story 🙂

This book was assigned to me in 5th grade to write a book report on. (I will be 50 next year [2019])

I struggled to read back then and have never finished, and life has just been to fast.

The narrator does a great job in delivering this great story!

check this one off my bucket list... 👍

Thank you.

Norway WWII small community rebels against invader

What made the experience of listening to Snow Treasure the most enjoyable?

I felt as though I could see what was going on in this small community, with the fear and anxiety of being overrun by the Germans. Between the author and the expressive voice of the reader, we found ourselves in Norway.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Snow Treasure?

The children having to sneak past the German troops with their sleds.

Which scene was your favorite?

Sledding when they were bringing the gold.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the Daddy went off to war.

Any additional comments?

This is a great book, and the story teller keeps it interesting.

Love this book

Love this book. Had it when I was a child it was my favorite book then and still is. I was so happy to find this here as I want to share it with my Grandchildren and my book pages are so old yellow and brittle I won't let anyone touch it.

Bad ending

Didn't explain the ending very well. Could have been better, but a good book overall.

Good but short,

Great story of children besting Nazis in Norwegian County side, short and sweet. Loved the ending. Share this with a Norwegian you know.
