Abridged

I was sooo disappointed with this purchase. It was woefully abridged, I've read the book previously. I paid for the book, only then to realize the version wasn't the one I had hoped for

I accidentally purchased the abridged version

What did you love best about Small Sacrifices?

I love true crime, especially Ann Rule. I was upset however, that I bought the abridged version. I read the book years ago and it was much longer and more detailed. I will purchase the unabridged version very soon.
But this story is so amazing and it boggles the mind how a mother could be so selfish.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

For sure! I loved that Ann Rule herself narrated it.

What does Ann Rule bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is telling HER story that SHE wrote and put her heart and soul into. It makes a difference to have the author retell what she worked so hard on.

The book has more information and is way longer

Would you try another book from Ann Rule and/or Ann Rule?

No

What could Ann Rule have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Actually read the book she published...this not even three hour short story remake is an insult to the book she actually did write. The book contains way more information and leads you into the mind of Diane Downs. This audiobook barely scratch the surface.

Would you be willing to try another one of Ann Rule’s performances?

no

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Severe disappointment

Any additional comments?

I wish I could have my money back.

flat narration.

I enjoy Ann Rule's works most of the time, but this is the first time Ive heard her preform. It was pretty flat, monotone, and terrible. I enjoyed her other books read by others though. Wouldnt recommend this.

The abridged versions of these are worth $5 tops.

The abridged versions of these are worth $5 tops. A free podcast would have better if I wanted a short summary of the true crime. lesson learned.

Narration is not good and it is too short

I liked the story but the narration was flat and without inflection. It felt like a short story being read inside a metal can. Also, occasionally you can hear other voices in the background

eh. Not the best version. I'm disappointed in it

I am disappointed in this version. Too short and while Ann Rule wrote well, they need a better reader.

Sacrifice of your money or credit!

This was a waste! Ann Rule is an "okay" writer on one of my favorite genres. However, she is not (nor should she EVER be) a narrator!! I found this book reading almost incomprehensible. What a sacrifice!

Ann Rule should not read her own books

The tone was so low or deep that I could not understand what she was saying. I love Ann Rule books but the narration was very bad
