Publisher's Summary

Teenage superspy Alex Rider is enlisted by the national security services again, this time for a routine reconnaissance mission at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships. Growing up is hard to do

Best of the series so far, excellent character development and an engaging storyline taking in many different locations, as any good spying adventure yarn should! Nice that Alex's prior experiences with a crane came into good use (clever authorial foresight there!). The final chapter was particularly well handled, I thought, really getting inside the mind of a teenager, and one feeling particularly isolated and adrift - made me quite teary, actually. (This adult co-reader/listener looks forward to the next installment!)

Series developing

Where does Skeleton Key rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Similar to the Young Bonds, Skeleton Key is a good book but not outstanding. Alex's character develops but the story is a little weak.

Would you be willing to try another book from Anthony Horowitz? Why or why not?

Absolutely, Horowitz is great.

What does Oliver Chris bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Well read, good accents.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Nope.

Any additional comments?

Looking forward to the next in the series.

Brilliant

I have been a big fan of these Alex Rider books for years, originally reading them when I was a kid. As with everything getting older you forget so I was very happy to stumble over these again & listen.

The books are great & very gripping, the only issue I have with them is the unrealistic gadgets but oh well.

The only let down is the performer, he struggles to give the different characters different voices over the series of books, sometimes the accent's all sound the same, but he does a better job than I could.

Some small issues with the audio as in previous books - will be the reason for my returning.
