Lauren and Ethan are my favorite Davenport couple.

Anytime there are two strong personalities, a clash is inevitable. Yet, Davenport is an ace at managing the fallout. Skating on Thin Ice is a passionate drama that feeds off the heat of attraction and slowly exposes the heart underneath. Lauren and Ethan are my favorite Davenport characters because they go after what they want instead of watching from the sidelines. I'd read the book first and sort of fell into the audio later, but Summerville is pure gold. Her narration is spot on and captivating to listen to.

Everybody had their secrets, but they all acted like Ethan was the only one and the bad guy???
I can't! ! Lauren acted like she was the only one that had been hurt in the past! All emotion and mo brain function. I was disappointed in Lauren!
She was too hardheaded fir her own good. Lots of cheesy hockey puns/slang. The narrator was good. I voluntarily listened to this and am giving an honest review.

A pretty good hockey billionaire romance

I love the both story and the characters. I am a hockey fan, and I could tell that the author has a passion for hockey. The plot also sounded realistic to me. This book covers a lot of themes in romance: office, sports, billionaire, and enemies to friends to lovers romance. The hero Ethan is keeping secrets, but he is a good guy. The heroine Lauren is a tough, determined, intelligent woman who has been burned in the past by an untrustworthy ex-husband. Both Ethan and Lauren feel an intense attraction to each other as they try to stay professional, do their jobs, and do their best for a certain pro-hockey team. The author makes the romance sizzle while having excellent dialogue. Ethan and Lauren's personalities go together so well, and the happy ending was wonderful!

There is only one thing wrong with this audiobook: the solo narrator’s unfortunate choice of the hero’s voice. Ethan Parker is a handsome, fit billionaire in his thirties, but the narrator makes his voice sound like that of a cranky old man! I can only describe the voice as flatly discordant, strident, and almost a monotone. It is very unsexy and often pulled me out of the story until I learned to ignore it. I don’t think any woman could marry a man with that voice unless she was tone deaf. Thankfully, the narrator Shaina Summerville does a wonderful, beautiful job with the rest of the narration. She is great at women’s voices and old men’s voices, and even Ethan’s best friend Brad sounds pretty sexy. She is emotive and really good at pacing. I would like to listen to more of this series, but whoever narrates the rest of the series needs to do a much better job on the hero's voice. If you are thinking of buying this audiobook, make sure beforehand that you listen to the entire sample to hear Ethan’s voice and decide if you like it.

Skating on Thin Ice

Lauren and Ethan are hardheaded and stubborn. They do not trust others. They finally find a friendship in each other that leads to more. Was expecting more sports.

Great start to the series

I loved reading this book, which I bought in 2015. Jami Davenport wrote a good storyline with good characters. Ethan and Lauren has a slow burn romance which is one of my favorites. There was an overuse of "progressive" thinking, coaching, playing, etc. It really didn't need to be repeated so much. But as a whole, I enjoyed the book.

Shaina Summerville did a good job with the female voices. She just doesn't have the range for doing male voices. When the males were talking, I couldn't keep up with who was speaking. It felt a bit stilted. Otherwise she has a smooth and lovely tone.

Love, Lies, & Hockey

Promising start to this series in a story that is Undercover Boss meets hockey plus a slow burn romance. Ethan is a Seattle based billionaire determined to bring hockey to his city. When he finally gets the chance to purchase a team, he must secretly go undercover to ensure everything with the deal goes smoothly. Lauren was raised in a hockey family and is trying to be taken seriously as a woman in a man's world. Ethan recognizes her talent but worries what will happen when she finds out the truth about who he really is and what his plans are for the team. Sparks fly as these two reluctantly become friends and allies but will their trust issues threaten their fledgling romance before it ever has a real chance?
While the narrator is great at telling the story and the female voices, she falls short on the male voices. The voice for Ethan was grating on my ears and difficult to listen to and the other guys weren't much better being stiff and disjointed.

hockey and love

Falling for him was a big step in letting her guard down. When his big secret is revealed, will she believe him why he lied to hide everything ? Will she ever forgive him? Why did she feel so betrayed? Did she really love him? Ethan wanted to tell her all along why he was there , who he really was, and why he changed his name. He wanted, for once, to be in a relationship based on love, not his money. . Can he win her heart back? This is a story of love, trust, lies, feeling betrayed, Jamie Davenport sports romance goes behind the scenes of what makes a sports team , forward thinking, modern, making women in executives positions. Shaina Summerville narration is flawleess and gives each character their own personality and voice. I was gifted this audio book and offered my honest review!

Good start to a series.

I had already read the book but when I saw there was an audio I had to listen. As before I liked the story although the book heroine bugs me a little bit during the story. Draws conclusions without listening. Keeps talking about trust, when she doesn’t show any herself. But I still liked the story.
Narration.... Shaina Summerville is excellent at the female and general storytelling narrating BUT NOT the male characters. She makes them sound stiff and constipated. I wanted a sexy alfamale smooth voice of Ethan, but that was not what I got.

not your typical hockey romance

Ethan wants to own a team. Lauren has been trying to gain respect in the hockey world. These two seem like the most unlikely pair. The only thing they have in common is the love of the game. Once Ethan goes undercover to find out about the team hs is buying, Lauren is the one who gives him the inside scoop. He instantly respects her opinions and Lauren finds she is growing fond of him. I enjoyed the banter between these two. The realistic relationship between Lauren and the players and the realistic uncertainty of new ownership. Ethan my not have been a pro athlete, but I enjoyed how these two found each other. I was hooked from the first chapter and found myself always hoping for their happy ending.

Shaina Summerville really brought this story to life. She has an easy to listen to voice. She kept the characters distinct and easy to follow. Her male voices were smooth and all different. Shaina really brought out all the struggles and emotions of Lauren. Overall, this was a great listen.

Hockey romance

I love sports romance and this was no different. I didn’t love the various voices from the narrator but it wasn’t anything that kept me from listening. My biggest complaint would be the story just kind of ended without really finishing. I was hoping for an epilogue to wrap it up but that didn’t happen. Again not worth not listening to and more just a personal preference but great overall story and love a good HEA.

Skating for love

a great story by a new to me Author. love, deception and trust issues are what keep these two from admitting the truth.

new narrator based well. she did amazing at the female voices. the male sounded off and out of breath. if the story was so good I may have stopped listening.

This is a great listen!!

I love hockey, and Jami Davenport has written a great hockey story here! Ethan may not be a professional hockey “guy” but he lives the game and wants to own a team. He can afford to own a team.. so he goes after what he wants. Lauren works for the team Ethan wants. She is not heard with the current owners or staff, but her instincts are good and she knows hockey! Ethan sees that, and he wants to work with her.

Will Ethan get his team? Will Lauren agree to work with him? It’s so worth the listen to find out!!! I love the writing, the characters, and the whole story!

Shaina Summerville is a new narrator for me. Her normal voice and he female character voices are pleasant, but I had a little difficulty with her male voices. It did NOT change how I felt about this book!

Good hockey romance; too much forced angst

Ethan goes undercover to assess a hockey team that he wants to buy. Lauren works for the team and there’s instant attraction. But as he’s undercover, he’s not allowed to let her in on his secret. How do they overcome starting their relationship on a bed of lies?

I enjoyed most of the story until towards the end. I thought that there was too much forced angst and the way that Lauren reacted to the reveal was unbelievable, given how the whole book she was exalted for her professionalism. However, I really liked the characters for most of the book so I give the book a 3.5.

In terms of the narration, Shaina was ok, when she played the female characters. However, I admit that I didn’t like her male voices- those voices sounded too forced and in such an unnatural way, sharp way. However, her narration otherwise was pretty good in terms of pacing and admittedly, it was easy to differentiate between the voices.
