Wonderful wrap-ups!

I really liked how Lisa Wingate filled in between her three Carolina Series stories with the three Sisters novellas. Each one is very satisfying and complete. Thanks, Lisa!

3 lovely short stories

It was lovely to see the intertwining of people in all three stories, the only thing I was not pleased with were the ending that didn’t quite close the stories, but apart from that, stunning to listen to.

Left me wanting more of the stories

Honestly, I was a little disappointed. I felt as if the stories were unfinished and left more to be desired. The writing was good, but the stories seemed to be cut off in a sense. At the end of each story, I had too many questions surrounding what ultimately happened with different characters, how did certain situations play out or why were certain details about the characters shared but not built upon. Maybe these stories really touch the hearts of others, but for me, I wanted more.

A bit cheesy

No real depth to the story or characters. Very predictable story line. The characters seem hallmark movie style. I prefer my books to have more substance.

The joys and trials of sisterhood!

The Sea Glass Sisters

This story captured me quickly. The opening scene is filled with urgency and there is an electricity in the air during the 911 call and search for Emily. Elizabeth Gallagher is an interesting character and easy to sympathize with. And her mother, Sharon, and Aunt Sandy add so much to the story. The East Coast setting in North Carolina, is a character on its own. The hurricane gives an ominous feel rather than a sunny beach atmosphere. I experienced so many emotions and was fully immersed in the Outer Banks sea air, and enjoyed getting to know these characters, Sandy’s Sea Shell Shop, and the family ties and dynamics. A stirring story sharing the importance of family and faith while we weather life’s storms.

The Tidewater Sisters

This is another Lisa Wingate hit! Tandi Jo was first introduced in The Sea Glass Sisters and The Prayer Box and captured my heart. Tandi returns to the Tidewater in North Carolina, a place that holds difficult memories. I sympathize with her when she gets tangled in a lawsuit and had strong emotions toward her sister Gina as well. Tandi’s relationship with her sister is more than strained, and so much is revealed about their past. A powerful and highly emotional read with a sweet ending.

The Sandcastle Sister

As with each of the novellas, I swiftly became absorbed by these sisters and their stories. Jen carries a lot of baggage, and fears making the same bad decisions the women in her family have made—giving up her self for a lackluster life. She also doesn’t want that for her sister, Lily Clarette. Secrets are revealed and lives are changed.

Audio Narration:
Sybil Johnson narrates The Sea Glass Sisters. She has a softness to her voice that is both comforting and articulate. Her character changes are clear and believable.

Xe Sands narrates The Tidewater Sisters. Her inflection has a different kind of charm, with a wispy, almost lazy drawl. Her character changes are distinctive and believable, even a male voice.

Abby Craden narrates The Sandcastle Sister. This narrator has a slight gravel to her voice. She doesn’t have the southern inflection I’d expected, and over-does it a bit with Lily Clarette’s dialogue, which was distracting at times.

Audio Production Quality:
The production quality of this audiobook is clear, without any distracting sounds or skips.

Overall:
Sisters is a lovely collection of three novellas that touch on the joys and trials of sisterhood. I’ve read all the books and novellas in the Carolina Chronicles series and have grown to love each of these sisters!
