Publisher's summary

The world's only non-denominational exorcist - the subject of a forthcoming major motion picture - tells her astonishing true story: a riveting chronicle of wrestling entities from infected souls, showing how pain and trauma opens us to attachment from forces that drain our energy...and can even destroy our humanity.

As a secular exorcist, Rachel H. Stavis has cleansed thousands of tormented people, from small children and Hollywood moguls to stay-at-home moms and politicians. But for many years, the horror screenwriter and novelist denied her gift. As a little girl, she began to see "monsters" floating around her bedroom or attached to other children. Told it was only her imagination, Rachel learned to ignore the things she saw.

But a series of events in adulthood forced her to acknowledge her unique ability and embrace her power to heal. Since then, Rachel has dedicated her life to helping others cast off the forces feeding off of us. Performing her services pro-bono, she quietly worked in the shadows, until she unknowingly revealed her work to a journalist, who told her story to NPR.

A unique look at demonology removed from religious dogma, Sister of Darkness recounts Rachel's journey to becoming an exorcist and chronicles some of her most extreme cleansings cases, including those that put her and her clients in peril. Going deep into her world, we meet the diverse range of people she has helped - young, old, famous, and not - in gripping stories of danger and sometimes sadness, that are ultimately about redemption. Rachel teaches us that there are a diverse range of "entities" surrounding us - some of these are playful or misguided, while some are dangerous and harmful. She introduces each of them and explains their power, helping us understand what is attacking and hurting us, and what we can do to protect ourselves.

Frightening, eye-opening, and utterly enthralling, Sister of Darkness brings to light a world ruled by destruction, chaos and fear, and the woman who bravely fights to protect those who seeks her out.

ridiculous dangerous and absurd

This chick is a total charlatan and is probably possessed herself. claims to talk to Buddha jesus and her spirit guides , oh and goddesses , but by the was she doesnt believe in God. She claims that like Batman she alone banishes possessing spirits. her ego is truly incredible. anyone who knows anything about possession knows human beings cant get rid of demons by their power alone. She goes on to claim that nearly everyone who walks the earth has been possessed at one time or another. oh and SHE is the only one that can help you. I dont need to tell you that Lucifers main sin was pride. well this chicks got alot of it. Dangerous false teaching, suspect she is possessed.

This was such a letdown

After hearing about this author and book from many different sources and soon there after finding it, I was very excited to dive in as the subject matter it delves into is very near and dear to me. Once I finish the book however, I felt incredibly that down as this was more of an ego boosting compilation of stories. I feel as if the author used her writing background to embellish most if not all of the details regarding her abilities. There wasn’t any thorough background given on her spirituality aside for mentioning have trouble past and what appears to be a very late approach to spirituality of any kind.

With regards to her definitions of the energies she sees, if I were to use her own definitions that she is falling prey to which she labeled a trickster. With all the mansions of spiritual guides, master angels and went night as well as mentioning the ark Angel Michael and HECATE then she is of course being influenced by a trickster. Since she doesn’t provide any alternatives to other people being influenced by these energies, then I will except no other alternatives to her own definitions. She of course can’t see this being the case because nobody else has this gift of ours, supposedly. And I said before this is a very self masturbatory attempt to show how in touch she is with spirituality and with helping people, but in the same rate and effort she is also talking about her high profile clients and providing details of how special she is a city like Los Angeles where she claims at the start of the book that 99% of the people she comes across have these energies attached to them but somehow miraculously she doesn’t.

I have definitely found more inspirational and helpful and most importantly more humble people without high profile clients and such claims as this author which I would rather pay attention to.

caution

I never write reviews of the audio books I chose to listen to but I feel it is necessary for this audio book. I feel the author of this audio book neglected to mention how completely DANGEROUS automatic writing and ouija boards are and speaks of them as they are for anyone to use to connect with spirit. The only thing these techniques are going to bring is a real trouble that she can NOT exercise out of existence. This material is not for the beginner of the spiritual world.

Informative and Enlightening

This book came to me at the perfect time. I listened to an interview with the author on a podcast and felt compelled to give it a go. That decision had to be one of the best I have ever made. Once I convinced myself to listen with an open heart and an open mind, everything just resonated with me perfectly. She had a way of putting everything in a perception that was totally relatable and explained everything with such clarity and confidence that I walked away with a new found personal confidence. If you are doubting if you should give this book a try, then just listen to your gut and go for It! you won't regret it!

A pure joke!

Clearly written to make easy money. I thought I was buying a book written by a real exorcist! I wasted my money. Living and learning!

Entertaining, mostly an ego boost, great voice

Firstly, the Author has a wonderful reading voice. She speaks as if she speaking to a person, and is not robotic, and I appreciate that, especially in an eBook. The content is broad and thinly detailed, but interesting. It's food for thought. Honestly the only thing that stops me from LOVING the book is that the author is very clearly just after your money and attention. By her own admission, she was raised by 1 toxic guardian (her mother) and 1 overly-doting guardian (her grandmother), and unfortunately when this combination of environments is applied to a young child, it can manifest into a Narcissistic adult, which I believe explains the Author's superiority complex. She claims to be the ONLY person who can see, treat, or understand these entities; and that is just absurd and very selfish. She claims that EVERYONE has entity attachments (oh except herself of course, because she "just doesn't allow it"). She lacks detail in the majority of the story-telling. It's a series of 'gists'; basic Look-at-me accomplishments. What keeps me from loving this book, is knowing that she exhibits signs of narcissistic personality disorder, and it's clear that she isn't doing any of this just for the sake of helping others, which is what she claims. She also never goes into detail about her actual ceremonies of exorcism with the exception of mentioning a couple herbs/incense she burns and explaining that she has a "spirit room" which she also never goes into detail about. I would expect at least SOME detail into the exorcism side of her endeavors, especially given it's the Title of her book, and inasmuch as she claims that only SHE can do it (so what'a the harm in giving us details?) Honestly, the lack of any sort of humility is off-putting for me. She gives off vibes I generally try to avoid when getting to know a person.

That being said, it's an interesting thought experiment. I don't believe in good or evil, but I do believe that we can't possibly know every creature that exists in this world (or another world), and theoretically it is possible that there are other-worldly creatures feeding off the life-force of other beings that we cannot see or perceive.

Take this book with a grain of salt (or three), and know that it is a piece of thought-provoking entertainment, and by no means truth or gospel.

This validated a lot for me

I hadn't been to a book store in a long time. One day last week I was going to the pet store to buy cat food and had a spur of the moment inclination to go into Barnes&Noble. I saw this book sitting on a shelf at the book store and was immediately drawn to it. After much contemplation, I didn't buy it thinking I don't need another book. And as phases go, there are phases where this line of work keeps coming back to the forefront for me and I keep ignoring it. I walked away from it thinking I'll see if I can get a better price for it somewhere else. When I had the chance to look around online the first thing I found was the an offering on Audible, I jumped on it. With that said, this book helped me tremendously. I've been drawn to this work for a very long time but have ignored the pull. I've seen some of what she has seen and have been doing the work in a more removed way (via the Akashic Records) but sporadically. I am grateful that she has walked the walk and that she gave an inside view of her life, her experiences, what she has seen (I'm a visual person), what the work entails and tips on how to do some if the self work. This validated alot for me and although my sightings are not as frequent as hers, they parallel and she clarified alot for me. Great book for those who are not sure, who doubt or are ignoring the fact that they really are being called to do this kind of work. Thank you R.H. Stavis for putting this out there for those of us still hesitating.
