This Story Is Sexy

Publisher's Summary

My name is Sevin. Homeschooled and sheltered by my ultra-religious family, I was always taught that lust was a sin. Elle was the girl who'd been carefully chosen for me. After a long-distance courtship, I'd be moving into her family's guest house so that we could get to know each other in the months before the wedding. Boundaries were set: no inappropriate touching, no kissing, no sex before marriage. I'd accepted those rules and my fate - until I met the one I wanted to sin with. That was when restraint became a problem, especially since "the one" wasn't Elle; it was her sister, Evangeline.

Contains mature themes.

SO.MUCH.ANGST

If you could sum up Sins of Sevin in three words, what would they be?

Angsty, Forbidden, Heartwrenching

What was one of the most memorable moments of Sins of Sevin?

Well, I don't want to leave any spoilers, but I would say this, half way through the book at Part 2.

Have you listened to any of Sean Crisden and Aletha George ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not. But Sean sounds Just like Kevin Bacon!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I actually DID listen to this in one sitting. On the plus side, my house was clean by the end of it.

Any additional comments?

This is now one of my favorite books.
Penelope Ward's stories are amazing.

A good forbidden love story but not a light one.

I kept passing on this book due to the arranged marriage. However, I like Penelope Ward's books so I took a chance with my credit. I admit the middle of the book was a difficult listen because of the unfortunate life paths of Sevin and Evangeline. I was also angry at the selfish characters: Lance, Olga and Elle. This was a dramatic, forbidden love story. The couple's love was sweet, passionate, and sexy. My heart ached throughout until I ended up crying with the surprise ending. With all the angst, I'm glad I used my credit. I star off because of my anguish.

Disappointing

Story starts off good. One-third in, it takes a turn for the worst. The end leaves you feeling very incomplete. The female lead seems to completely disappear and you are left wondering, what happened to her? What begins as a love story between a man and a woman, abruptly turns to a "love" story between a man and a child. It just didn't make sense. What a waste of hours of my time.

Disappointed

I have loved all her books until this one. For one I don't agree with arranged marriages so the start of the book didn't grab me. I loved Sevin and his character but Evangeline just made me mad and I didn't care for her. The author did a great job with showing the chemistry between them but the rest of the story just wasn't for me.

Too much Turmoil

I’m not going to curtail this review. There will be a spoilers. So if you don’t want to know detailed information about this book please skip this review. This book is really heavy and if you are in any bad place in your life or experiencing any emotional issues I do not recommend this book.

This book was a big pill to swallow. There was so much turmoil and emotions and heartbreak that was heavy. I was so mad at Evangeline when she left the way she did. I even considered stopping the book. I just couldn’t take it. It was too much. And then what happened to Elle made it even worse and his obligation to stay and he ended up marrying her!!!! Him telling Evangeline what he had to do to keep Elle happy and feeling loved. There was so much torment. The fact that Elle died was a big Relief for me. I don’t think I’ve ever rated for a character to die more than I rooted for her to just disappear.

The fact that Evangeline came back and they got back together was a plus until you hear what she went through during the five-year period. Omg how much more can Sevin take. I felt really bad for him. He such a great soul despite his demons and insecurities. On the bright side I like that the author did bring Rose back to her father and I really appreciated her calling him Dad. That put a Band-Aid on all the hurt I felt listening to this book. Too heavy despite the sweet sexy love story.

All slow burn with no fire

Don’t let the cover fool you. This was a good story, but I thought it was too sad. I thought at some point it would get better, but it really didn’t. The main characters had horrible lives. Also, it was all slow burn with no fire. I would call this Christian romance.

I love her books but this one was not as good as the others. This doesn't spoil the pot though I will be still be buying her books!
