Publisher's summary

Award-winning authors Victoria Christopher Murray and ReShonda Tate Billingsley are both beloved for their strong female leads and juicy plotting. In Sinners & Saints, Murray and Billingsley join forces to tell a tale packed with drama, scandal, and redemption. Jasmine Bush and Rachel Adams both want their husbands to be elected president of the National Baptist Association, and they’re willing to use plenty of low-down tricks to win. But when another woman joins the fray, she proves more devious than either of them could imagine.

WONDERFUL - FABULOUS - OVER THE TOP

I absolutely loved this story and the two divas pitting against each other. The ending was twistful and simply fun. Ten stars! And as usual, the narrator does a wonderful job. She's one of my favs. Would love to find more books with these same two characters. I didn't realize there was one prior to this but since I know the outcome from having listened to this one, I'm not sure I'll get it.

Devious Divas!

It's a low-down dirty shame the depths that the "saints" of the church will sink to in order to get what they want. The divas' deviousness is unlimited in their fight to become the First Lady of the National Baptist Association.

Yes, this novel is a "hot mess" but entertaining and enjoyable. If you are looking for something that's not too deep, something that will give you a few good laughs, this novel is a good investment. I have read a few of Victoria Murray's novels and I have enjoyed them. This novel, I believe, was a bit more entertaining for me because it was my first time encountering Rachel Adams and Cecilia King. It was fun learning about them.

Of course, the performance by the fabulous Patricia Floyd was stellar!

Bad Listen....

A bad narrator can ruin a story. The long pauses, lip smacking and breaths at the end of each completed sentence was annoying.

Funny

This is a funny take on the clergy in an African American Baptist church. There is a week conference to vote for a new head of the National Baptist Church. While the pastors are religious, real and professional, their wives, Jasmine and Rachel are treacherous, conniving, women who are fighting dirty to get their husband winners for the prestige of them being first lady of the National Baptist Church.

Their antics are funny, underhanded and ghetto. They smear each other with half lies and embarrassing situations to a hypocritical congregation who delight in the outrageous behavior. The ladies expose adultery, baby daddy, stripper, jail time, homosexuality and drug use allegations to discredit each other. The vanities of the church ladies are expose by their grasping and gossiping for the next juicy piece of dirt.

The story is funny and engaging enough that I will pick up for the next in the series. I mean, I know the secrets of the ladies, what other trouble can they get into?

Jasmine grows up a little

Would you consider the audio edition of Sinners & Saints to be better than the print version?

What an interesting question…
Well .. Since I’ve been a member of audible.com for over 10 years its obvious I enjoy audio versions of books.
As to your question would I consider the audio version better than the print version, well I don’t have the printed version of this book so I really cannot compare. I believe I have all of Victoria’s, ’ Jasmine’ series in the printed version, and yes I enjoyed them as well. What I can say is this, my daughter and I started this book around the same time she had the printed and I had the audio, and I finished the book. As a matter of fact she did say it was hard getting through the first couple of chapters and she loves reading Victoria’s books so based on that i guess I would have to say the audio edition of Sinners & Saints is better than the printed version.

Who was your favorite character and why?

i think in this book it would be Mae Francis. i like the turn of events and it wasn't predictable. I was very pleased that she was true to her friendship to Jasmine although she had me worried there for a little bit.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

i think so. I haven't read any of Reshonda's books, but Victoria Christopher is one of my favorite writers. This book was well written, the collaboration flowed naturaly .

If you could rename Sinners & Saints, what would you call it?

Ghetto vs Bolshie

Any additional comments?

I was pleased with Jasmin’s willingness to put her family’s safety ahead of her own selfishness and need to beat out her opponent.
