Publisher's summary

From the award-winning, number one New York Times best-selling author whom USA Today calls a “master of the page-turner” comes the spectacular story of a woman’s complex quest to form a family.

Every life has a soundtrack. All you have to do is listen.

Music has set the tone for most of Zoe Baxter’s life. There’s the melody that reminds her of the summer she spent rubbing baby oil on her stomach in pursuit of the perfect tan. A dance beat that makes her think of using a fake ID to slip into a nightclub. A dirge that marked the years she spent trying to get pregnant.

For better or for worse, music is the language of memory. It is also the language of love.

In the aftermath of a series of personal tragedies, Zoe throws herself into her career as a music therapist. When an unexpected friendship slowly blossoms into love, she makes plans for a new life, but to her shock and inevitable rage, some people - even those she loves and trusts most - don’t want that to happen.

Sing You Home is about identity, love, marriage, and parenthood. It’s about people wanting to do the right thing for the greater good, even as they work to fulfill their own personal desires and dreams. And it’s about what happens when the outside world brutally calls into question the very thing closest to our hearts: family.

amazing

I was hooked in the very beginning. I thought for sure I knew what would happen in the end, but several twists have me back and forth, changing my mind.

Felt so much during this book

Loved, loved, loved it. This book made me feel so many different emotions. I kept pausing it to tell my wife what was going on in the book and that's not something I usually do.

A real eye opener

A real eye opener into a lot of issues facing same sex couple today! I didn’t however like the music at the start of the chapters! It would wreck the flow of the book and I found myself fast forwarding through them! Would be good to have the option of having the songs!

Great story, but the singing.....?

Intriguing story and characters. Excellent narrators. However, the songs and singing were distracting, poorly preformed and more intrusive than enhancing.

Good listen

The narration was great. The book was good but, seemed to end abruptly. I wish the author would have tied up loose ends before skipping ahead 6 years. Otherwise a good book.

Interesting, thought provoking topic

I review all the books I listen too but I actually do not read reviews before I choose a book.
I loved the story line of this book and I like the presentation. I also liked the music that went with this that I would not have had if I had just read the book.
I just feel that the book could have been shorter. I feel like it took hours ( literally) before we got to what the real story line was about.
I like a back story I just felt like this one took too long.
However at the end I did feel like I really knew the characters .
This book accompanied me while walking!
Enjoy!!

LOVED everything but mandatory songs

This is a GREAT book. Well told. Great narrator. The only reason I take off a star is for the “folk songs” that are inserted though out the book (like an albums worth). FF button made it easy enough to skip through these, but they were not my cup of tea and kinda took away from the flow of the story. (Shouldn’t be a dealbreaker as this is a great book.)

So many twist plots

There are so many twist plots in this story. Really enjoyed it. Definitely could’ve done without the songs though.

Sing You Home

I very much enjoyed the story and some of its content hit very close to home. To be frank, I skipped through all of the songs and felt they were not necessary to the story and actually took away from the piece.

thought provoking

As always Jodi Picoult makes you think out loud. What would I do? How does this make me feel? And as always her characters are real feeling with depth.
