Publisher's summary

From the New York Times best-selling author of the Coulter and Harrigan Family novels comes a brand-new contemporary romance series about first love, second chances, and hope reborn.

After years of living in fear of her husband, Amanda Banning has left him and moved to Mystic Creek, Oregon, for a fresh start. But she's having a tough time providing for herself and her six-year-old daughter. Writing her secret yearnings on slips of paper and sending them into the wind helps her cling to the hope that things will get better... and that she can find happiness again. Jeb Sterling has no idea that the handwritten messages he finds scattered across his land are the first hints that his life is about to change. Nor does he understand why he feels so compelled to help Amanda Banning and her daughter when a cold snap leaves them temporarily homeless. Maybe he's inspired by Amanda's courage or perhaps by her beautiful brown eyes. Either way, the man who once renounced love suddenly finds himself willing to do anything for the pair. Amanda seems to have given up on her dreams, but Jeb refuses to quit until he makes her every wish come true.

Great story!

I have always enjoyed this author. I think I may have read all of her books!
This book was suspenseful, scary at times, and had an unpredictable end to the villain's life.
Wonderful! I enjoyed it all!

Excellent story and narrator

I have only read a couple Catherine Anderson books but this one made me a fan. The story was written so we'll about characters developed so we'll you could not help but care about them. The subject matter waabjeavy but written about with such care, accuracy, and honesty. I loved the narrators style. I enjoyed that there were not a bunch of cheesy voices that sounded fake in her repotoiree. She kept a good pace and was easy to listen to.

I would recommend this book for sure and plan to listen to book two because this one was so very good.

typical catharine andersson

good story. portrayed domestic violence accurately but heroine healed awful fast emotionally with no therapeutic intervention and fell in love quickly. characters likeable enough to overlook that.

newbie author to me, i enjoy the cover, but sort of feel it doesn't give a big enough picture to this whole story ... what a great listen ... Bozo .. the doggie. totally stole the whole show. so sweet. a heartfelt, warm romance ... a story you will want a great ending ... so special and well worth the time to listen. i love warm and fuzzy reads. will check out more from this author and narrator very very soon. great style!! must read! Scared Desperation turns to Loving Security

I love a good story where the hero(ine) not only has to overcome the obstacles that life has put in their way, but also the obstacles that they have put in their own way. Overcoming ones own fears is often the most difficult part of any situation. But finding someone and learning how to lean on them, trust them, and love them is so satisfying. That is what this story is all about. How not only Mandy, but Chloe, Mandy's young daughter also learns to trust in Jeb and the protection and love he offers. This is a wonderfully sweet story of fear and struggle and finding a happily ever after.

Really heartwrenching dramatic story. Read with feeling. I laughed cried and swooned. Catherine Anderson never fails in the real she puts into her stories.
