Publisher's Summary

The drag queen named Vera Reynolds swayed on-stage singing "Falling in Love Again". And a 16-year-old boy lay in Vera's fire-engulfed apartment … very, very dead. He was a "rent boy", a sex-for-hire street kid who catered to the tastes of special customers. It was the kind of murder Soho's Vice Squad saw often. But the influential do-gooder who was a prime suspect in this one made the young boy's death different - a ticking bomb able to blast open the nasty, secret lives of politicians, judges... and cops.

Detective Jane Tennison had moved up the career ladder through sheer guts and an unstoppable passion for justice. Now, on her first day as the head of the Vice Squad, she caught a case threatening to wreck her career. She had been told whom to arrest - and whom to back off from - in the murder of the "rent boy". And she couldn't go with the program. She knew a destroyer of children was out there. She knew she had a choice: to save her future or go after him like an avenging angel, and damn the consequences to hell….

Not what I was hoping for at the end

I didn't like the main character very much. But I did read all 3 of the prime suspect books so I liked her well enough to read them all. When she became human....by being placed into a position that only a woman can really understand I liked her more but at the end we never found out where she went from there. Maybe there is another book out there somewhere.

This was better than the last

It's unfortunate there are no more of the series because so many story lines are left hanging, but there you are.

La Plante does not fail

Where does Silent Victims: Prime Suspect #3 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Among the top 20

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

No, I have read all her books, but Davinia did bring the characters to life.

Which character – as performed by Davina Porter – was your favorite?

Jane

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, when I find a good book and a wonderful narrator, I like to drag it out so it lasts longer. When you buy a book on tape, you never know if the narrator will ge good or the book interesting. With this book I already knew the plot, read it before, but I like Davinia so much, I wanted her to bring it to life again.

Best Tenyson so far!

A real whodunit, every suspect acquired, investigated and discarded several times as new evideca and witnesses came forward and then recanted, several times. Fortunately Jane does not jump to conclusions. I liked it.

Great mystery novel

I've only discovered Tennison. These books are great. The stores or cases are very modern day and I love the narrator.

when you think you have a friend

I enjoyed this book, it was a bit sad to hear how all those boys were molested at a young age and to see how it affected them growing up if they didn't commit suicide. Jane did a good job at solving this case even with the other detective trying to go behind her back and sabotage her career she didn't let him win..
