Publisher's Summary

Andy Carpenter and his golden retriever, Tara, are finding that all is not calm or bright in Silent Bite, the latest Christmas mystery in this heartwarming series from best-selling author David Rosenfelt.

Lawyer Andy Carpenter can finally take a breath; he's back on dry land after a family Caribbean cruise forced on him by his wife, Laurie, to get into the Christmas spirit. Of course the family's first stop is to the Tara Foundation, the dog rescue organization that has always been Andy's true passion.

But when Andy arrives, his partner, Willie Miller, needs his help. Willie's old cellmate, Glenn Anson, has been arrested for murder. Andy doesn't necessarily believe in Glenn, but Willie does. And Andy believes in Willie, which is why Andy decides to take the case.

Once again David Rosenfelt puts listeners in the Christmas spirit in a tale that is equal parts mystery and holiday cheer.

Worth listening for Grover Gardner's narration

I love the Andy Carpenter books. I read and reread them, listen and rel-isten to them. The books are delightful, funny, clever, usually at least an acceptable plot - but the characters are the main thing. I like them all and can read about them endlessly. And then there's Grover Gardner, as soon as his voice comes on, I'm happy.

So, why 3 stars for this one? It's just not very good, that's why. I don't know how it got that way, but it did. Because I could listen to Grover Gardner voicing Andy and the gang endlessly, I gave the performance 5 stars, and listened to the whole thing, even when I realized it had a dreadful and hard to follow plot, David must have gotten a bump from his publisher, or needed some money for something - probably worthwhile, he's a great guy - but that really isn't an excuse. Next time, please take some extra time, we're rooting for you and we want to like every Andy Carpenter book you write. Given any chance we will. may you bring these wonderful characters to life every so often, you light up our lives when you do.

For Andy Carpenter Fans

What I love about Andy Carpenter is still the same since the first book. Just that there is less of it in this book.

There were never plots in these books which we would want to share with friends and relatives. It was humor and characters. Human or dogs. All amazing.

Since Andy has been married, his sense of humor has deteriorated, his urge to get his wife in bed with him does not involve the amazing madness, Tera is not around as much and nor is the Editor and Police Captain. These were the prime drivers and I think they should be present with Marcus. I think these characters which we have expanded to are pointless. The core team was awesome. We do not need a K team!

So David, make it more funny, and let's stick to the stuff which always works!

As for this book, Andy Carpenter fans, they will go for it irrespective of what I say. If you have not heard of Andy Carpenter before this, skip this and find the first in the series. This will not be a good start.

Another Homerun!

Never a disappointment! Thank you,David Rosenfelt, for another great story. And thank you, Glover Gardner, for another outstanding performance... you truly breathe life into David Rosenfelt's characters. It's a perfect combination. For anyone who has a vision impairment (or a loved one with a vision impairment), & can no longer enjoy "reading"... this series is an absolute God send. I'm not visually impaired, but I have 2 family members who are. If you haven't purchased an Andy Carpenter audiobook yet, you're missing out! I own every single audiobook in the series & can't wait for the next.

Fun Listen

This is a good story. The Christmas tie in is a bit weak but doesn’t hurt the plot. Grover Gardner does a great job with voices, especially Marcus! I wish these books included more Marcus. Andy Carpenter’s sarcastic description of Marcus is awesome. Marcus is a complex character with obvious back story! Tell me more through Carpenter’s eyes like in the book where the two travel to Vegas.

Andy Slips a Little

Love this series but this one comes up short. Missing much of the banter and zany characters we usually see instead relying primarily on the outcome of the court case. Even the dogs weren’t able to save this one for me. Great narration though.

Another Home Run

Once you read this entertaining book you'll "get" the review title. I've read every single book this author has written. I especially enjoy the Andy Carpenter series. This hit it out of the park on so many levels. The trademark appeal of humor, the love of dogs, and the legal prowess is evident in this one. I loved it and look forward to the next.

Loved having the gang together again

For me, the K team series just doesn’t compare. I couldn’t wait for silent bite to be available and I enjoyed every moment of familiar characters, legal descriptions, plot twistsAnd some of the best one-liners and snarky humor out there.
