Interesting!

This short story grabbed and held my attention from the very first. With witches, skinwalkers, and vampires, how could it not? Of course, the narrator was excellent, which can make or break a story/novel. There are some really good stories out there, but terrible narrators are chosen, so the book languishes.

I will certainly listen to more from this author.

Short and sweet

Any additional comments?

This is a fun short story, but be aware that it is an extract from one of the other books, not a new story.
Also be aware that while some of these 'shorts' are an hour or more long, others are rather less than that.
Very enjoyable listen anyway!

Darker than I expected

When hunting Vampires, there’s always going to be a lot of violence & of course blood. This novella is no different.
It’s definitely violent & bloody. Although, it’s not as bad as other books I’ve listened to. The problem for me was the imagery I created in my head while listening to one part of the story. It was a bit disturbing for me, but again, not as bad as other books.
I did appreciate how well written the story was & learning more about the characters was helpful. I’m glad the descriptions wasn’t too vivid, because my imagination would have gone down a much darker path.
That all said, I still liked the story, it was actually pretty good & had a lot of heart thumping excitement for sure. ;)

I loved it!

I loved it!

This was such a surprise. I found these books and thought they were just more stories about Jane in New Orleans. I had no idea what a treasure trove I had found and what I was in for. I was so happy at the end of my first book to find that these were stories of Jane’s history and how some of her backstories played out that are just referenced throughout the series. I also enjoyed hearing the stories from Molly’s perspective. It was money and time well spent.

3.5 Stars - this one was good, but not great

I'm really liking the character of Jane Yellowrock (formerly Doe). She has so many different points of view, more than some.

Introducing Bo-day-sha

Overall, I’m not going to argue that Kristine Hvam is an excellent narrator. However . . . I can’t get past her pronunciation of warrior queen Boadicea as bo-day-sha which is a mm away from bodacious and just ugh. Bo-ad-da-sea-ah. Do your research.

Reread

I have read this one before. Still love it and look forward to rereading and reading more in the series that I haven't as of yet. Always exciting.
